If the yankees are farm animals, than what does that make the twins?

Twins just have to stop urinating down their leg.

You don't need over powering pitching.  Hit your spots, do your homework and trust your catcher paid attention to the scouting reports.  Very few teams have pitching staffs that are loaded with power.  All you need is to hit your spots.  And hey, when you get up to bat, make sure you wear diapers so the urine doesn't run down into their socks.

Total mental breakdowns with the Twins and Yankees.  I've never seen anything like it.  Absolutely nothing.

As for Lee, they tried.  Seattle wanted different players.  That was the deal breaker.

And my question is, is Lee someone you'd stand in the batting box and go "oh boy, he's going to blow it by me."  From what I saw against the Yankees no he is not.  He threw his pitches were they were supposed to be.  His fastball is what, 92 mph to an occasional 94?  Twin pitchers can reach that mark just the same.  Difference in the playoffs is Lee hits his spot with his fastballs and then floats in the off speed stuff with perfection.  You do that, you'll make people miss.

I will say, Lee was dominating.  It was one of his best if not they best outing of his life.  He was hitting everything and Molina called an awesome game.

Pitching is what is wining the games in the ALDS/CS and the NLDS/CS.  It all about pitching, only 2 guys with 3 home runs in both divisions, its all about the pitching.  ALCS would be over if it wasn't because of the poor pitching by the pen of the rangers.

Yeh, the twins dont even fit into the low budget category anymore, so cant use that as an excuse.. i think their 2010 payroll was something like 96 million

Tim is right, pitching isn't what did in the Twins, their hitters choked at the plate. Twins had plenty of chances, but when you don't hit with runners in scoring position your not going to win many games. Mauer, Kubel and Thome were big disappointments in that series. Things may have been different had Morneau been available but you have to produce with the guys that you have, and they didn't.

Lee would have been nice to have on the team, but they had no shot at resigning him after the season, so how much are you willing to give up for a 3 month rental? Tough call. They have some big decisions to make with current players becoming free agents. I hope they can land a good starter and a couple good bullpen guys.

Good luck to the Rangers and Giants. Down with the Yanks and Phils! LOL!

The only thing better than watching the Twins win, is watching the Yankees lose.  I love how the "greatest fans in the world" the last two nights have split when their team is down by a couple runs in the seventh...

Central division champs. A bunch of good guys that cannot get by the spoiled Yankees. The twins have a couple of ws titles. That is better than a lot of teams could say. The twins had some injuries that help them back. Still 3rd best record in bball.
I could care if the Spankees have 50 titles. They are a bunch of pretty boys!

It's not their fault they get paid so much. When your the most successful, greatest, and dominating professional team in the history of sports...that happens.

52,000 people packed into a stadium in the biggest city in the country, Id probably leave early too. Best part of the Yankees/twins series, was when the cameras showed the crowd in Target field. haha, that was hilarious.

I thought that was funny too. worlds greatest fans eh

anyone ever read the book on tony larussa called "3 nights in august"?best quote about the yankees/red sox ever. it says something like,

" Don't be fooled by all the glamourous espn coverage. The Yankee/Red Sox rivalry is built on money and media coverage. The Cardinal/Cubs rivalry is one of real pure hatred between 2 teams. While the east is sipping on wine and getting the best teams money can buy, the midwest will go though years of drought to get 1 year of success."

mhanson after all of the post july trades the twins payroll 101 million and change.

Twins were done in by their lack of clutch hitting which always been the case. Granted Lirano gave up a 3-0 lead in game 1, but other than that every pitchers mistake was modified by being behind or ahead 1-0. The rangers pitchers(ex cliff lee) are making some of the same mistake pitches the twins made but 1st the Spankees are missing and texas has hit with men on base.

I guess if it were me, paying $500 minimum for a seat, I would stick it out last six outs... Go Twins... pitchers and catchers report on February 13, 2011... can't wait...

I agree with you tim. I would always take a good pitching staff over a high powered offense. With that said I love guys that hit for a high average and low power. ie. tony gwynn is my favorite player of all time and one of the best hitters to walk on this planet.
you can win alot of playoff games with good pitching and timely hitting. that is the easiest way to sum up a baseball game. it doesn't matter what your payroll is if you can do that. go rangers.

Been to 6 or 7 twins games. Never once to cheer for the Twins, always against them. Its a blast!  Including 2 Yankees at twins. Its awesome being one of the few guys cheering for the  yankees at a twins game. The dumbfounded looks you get from those embarrassing Twins fans is priceless!
