What happened over there? At first they were teachers protesting now it looks like a bunch of hippies took it over. Did the teachers turn into hippies.

I sent an email to my brother-in-law in WI saying the same thing.  Hippies without the long hair.   But it also looked like the whites were having a pow wow with the drums, the chop of the hands and dancing.
Just hope no one does something stupid and someone get hurt in this.  A lot of anger shown.  Monies bring the best out of all of us.  db

Many union thugs have been shipped in to protest.   That is what happens when people smoke too much dope,  they show up to protest for unions.

So in your mind a thug is defined as a Governor trying to get a handle on his state's debt? What would you cut in the budget genius? List a few please and humor us all.

I would suggest that an eight percent cut across the board for the whole state would be fair, as the Union has already said that that would be aceptable to them.

Great,  then the union plays it's heavy hand down the road and we are back were we started.    Also,   I don't like the mandatory union dues going to the democrats.   Not fair imho.   For the union this is all about democrat fund raising imho.   The democrats are funding this protest and will fight tooth and nail because they know the union members will not voluntarily contribute.

Kaptain you've always expressed liberal views that I've seen on this site.  I'm with 3X on this.  So the public union workers will take a 8% pay cut, thereby the WI government will save 8% to help them get out of their 3 billion or whatever debt, right?  That's eight percent Kaptain.  And that's only asking the union workers to kick in a little bit to cover their retirement and health insurance.  Only eight percent!!!

I work in the private sector and this is my company plan.  (and yes it sucks but it is what it is and I don't rely on your tax money to support me.)

My 2 week contribution is $189.75 which is 4,928.30 a year for my wife and myself only.  I contribute to 97% of my retirement, since my employer will match 50% up to 6 % of what I contribute.

So you do some research and determine what they are paying for their health care and retirement and compare it with most private workers and get back to me on your findings.

Finally we are realizing unions have outlive their purpose.  They're just mobsters out there organizing sheep to follow them in their free ride funded by the American taxpayers.  I have more respect for Winsconcin than I have ever in the past, thanks Mr. Governor for sticking to your guns and hopefully get more of this country to follow suit.

3X, its very well documented that the Republicans are way more funded by big buisiness than the Dems are funded by Unions. So tell me whats fair? I dont really care about fair anymore than you do because "fair" is a relative term. The fight will be fought and hopefully the biggest jackass loses.

As a former boss of mine used to say "fair is not a grown-up word".

Always loved that one.

Colt, being with 3X on this one- Not in your favor

Retirement and healthcare, all part of the financial package, you can take out of this and put into that, but at the end of the day, its all financial, so dont talk about how much someone puts into healthcare or 401K, at the end of the day its the total package that counts.

Nobody cares what your plan is but it sounds a little better than mine, guess what, I dont care. My plan is what it is and Well try to improve it at our next contract negotiations.

Unions having outlived their purpose? Now thats the most often ignorant statement I hear from ignoramasus like you. Outlived their usefullness for whom, may I ask.

Ive been a Union member in a right to work state for 23 years, I know just a little bit about what goes on. I have friends who work in non-Union shops, which I did once myself, for two years. Im not going to elaborate further unless provoked.

The double standard here is whats killing me and why I keep losing more and more respect for the left. I figured it only a matter of time before these protests turned violent and they are. Have you seen the signs these people are holding up? Have you heard of the assaults taking place? You don't hear a peep from the left.

When the TEA partiers were having their rallies they were looking for anything they could to demonize them. There may have been an isolated incident(even those I question) and the left would blow it completely out of proportion.

These union rallies are spreading and they are getting uglier. The unions are only hurting themselves IMO.

What ever happened to the cream rising to the top? Why can't a guy be the best at what he does and get a raise the old fashioned way. If your the best you will get more money and better positions year after year. If your a pos then you should be fired. The unions want the worst and the best to get guarantees. Sorry, that ship has sailed!!!
Wonderful Reagan quote that says it like it is! "It isn't that Liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so much that isn't so."

Pard owns a machine shop in a right to work state.  He outpays the nearby union shops.  If an employee comes up with something new, they patent it and share in the profit.  He pays his longtime guys well enough that one of them asked for his substantial year-end profit sharing to be split up among the younger guys with families instead.  Everyone in the shop knows the score, the harder you work and more you produce the more $$ EVERYONE makes.  Discipline issues NEVER get to the owner, guys on the shop floor take care of poor performance among themselves, and quickly.

Unions = corruption

Wisconsin  imho represents a stand that has to be made and won. Unions were needed - decades ago. Now they represent forced pay scales and entitlements that most Americans only dream of - and in many, many cases...pay for.

And at what cost...

Think about it, get some reality and recognize the damage they have done in many facets of American business to American business. Look at the jobs shipped overseas to get away from them. For too long people have looked the other way or been too scared to place the blame where it belonged.

And now....they are running several states into the crapper...

No this battle has to be won. If for nothing else than to put Unions in their place - History.

And you have to love the trash being bussed into Wisconsin....good lord....

I say WI goes ahead with the 8% cut to these teachers and passes the proposed legislation on top of it.  Just to prove a point.

That is great Horsager, sounds like people are working together, I have nothing bad to say about the situation you have described. hope they keep it going and keep having success. I also hope they keep ahead of Union wages, that just helps bring everybody up, whether you like it or not.
