This summer we are thinking of having a fishing tournament up at lake darling. we where thinking of giving away a gun for the first place prize as a gun. We would be going after perch and/or walleyes. This would be a concealed carry or open carry event. This would be Sanctioned by th GF&P services. We would charge a 20 to 30 dollar charge to enter all money goes back in food or prizes.

Please tell me what you guys think and or ideals on where, when how much to enter. And what you guys think for legality. this would not be open to the public but it would be an event held for gun owners.

Who is GF&P?

I am pretty sure you need permission from North Dakota Game and Fish Dept for holding  a tourney.

You don't need a permit for the concealed carry part but you DO need a permit from G&F Dept. for the fishing part.

Any tournament, especially on public water, needs a permit to operate. This is why the ndgf has a permitted list of fishing tournaments.

Permitted Fishing Tournaments

A fishing contest in which prizes or cash are given for catching fish from waters open to the public must receive a permit from the Game and Fish Department. There are two exceptions to this requirement:

  • Individual big fish promotions sponsored by resident, local businesses not charging any entry or participation fee and

  • Any local fishing tournament charging an entry or participation fee of less than five dollars per angler unless there are more than 49 participating individuals or 14 participating boats.

Looking at your picture, poor grammar, lack of facts, I would say North Dakota Concealed Carry is actually trying to make 2nd Ammendment supporters look bad.

It's not that bad.
