Why so many Lions?

I was wondering the other night about what has changed with lions in ND. It seems like when I came to the state no one ever talked about lions. Then a few years later there were reports that there were some lions in the Badlands.

Some have posted here that they were there a long time ago. I don't doubt that, but what has changed is the amount of stories about lions, 5-7 of them under treestands, many pics of 3-4 lions together, lions in coulees, culverts, home depot, barns, backyards. It seems that there are reports coming in from all parts of the state a lot of the time.

I was talking to a man from Wisconsin the other night and he was telling me that there are lions there now. He said the GF said there weren't any breeding pairs just wandering males. Man doesn't that sound familiar.

My question is this:

What has changed in this state that has lions numbers seemingly  going through the roof? Why are there so many lions around now? Where are they coming from? Why so many pictures of multiple lions together? I thought most of the kittens die young, but the pictures I have seen of 3-4 lions together nobody looks straved.

Too restrictive of a hunting quota on them in SD drove them to over populate their range there.  So they got forced out of SD and into ND.

Then...ND restrictions on shooting them allowed them to really take off in ND once "breeding age" females showed up.

Not a lot of natural predators in ND able to take on the cats hence they will succeed here as much as NDGF allows.

and everything Allen said coincided with a deer population explosion and 5 years of very mild winters.

They are going to run out of food very, very fast.

Saw the photo on the rocks.  Nice pic.

I am surprised the quote wasn't filled by Sunday.  Very surprised actually.

There have been many sighting across the country in areas that haven't seen them in years ever since Obama took office.  Coincedence?

Also saw a Game and Fish vehicle parked in an area where I usually don't see them.

There is plenty of livestock for them to eat when they run out of wild game.
