What to do, but a good problem to have

I know what I am probably going to do but would like to see what you guys have to say on the subject.  I have a hammertime field for friday morning, ducks, geese, cranes.  It is on an island that is inaccesible by vehicle, can get there with a four wheeler though, however when I drove down there with the four wheeler to post it earlier this year I sure flushed a lot of birds off of the roost next to the field.
Question--
Is it going to be better to flush the birds in the dark with the four wheeler and push them back into the refuge and rely on them coming back to the feed field after they have settled down or do I walk in and probably flush them off with the first volley.
What is you opinion.

If it is going to push the birds off the roost al together leave it alone. Maybe try to getting the decoys out there the night before. It doesnt sound like you will need many any wait till they go out to feed and then quickly set up and get the stragglers. Atleast you wont burn a roost that way.

If you are going to push, push them out by the sound of the wheeler in the pre-dawn hours. you will get birds coming back much more than pounding at them.

 HNTDX,
That is the plan, I have left these two fields till this point as they are ideal fields for birds but the possibility is there of burning some out.  It is time though, thought about setting up the night before too but then we burn them out with gunshots in the morning.  Pushing them off with the wheeler is just gonna push them into the refuge and that is a far better alternative.
