Just thought this was amusing.

Hunter sues after failing to find elephant

WARSAW (Reuters) – A Polish hunter who dreamed of shooting an elephant has sued a German-based travel company after it sent him to a part of Africa where he said there were no elephants to be found, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The company, Jaworski Jagdreisen, which organizes hunting expeditions, insists there are elephants in the area of Zimbabwe it sent the hunter, identified only as Waldemar I, the Rzeczpospolita daily newspaper said.

"From what I know, (the hunter) should have seen elephant excrement there," it quoted the company owner as saying.

Even though the company organized a second trip for the luckless hunter during which he managed to kill a male elephant, the man still filed for damages worth $130,000 over his first expedition.

A court is due to rule on his claim on February 15, the paper said.

Shooting an elephant just doesn't interest me. Or any of Africa, for that matter.

Yeah, I've never really had the urge to visit the place, much less hunt there.

An African Plains game hunt might be OK.   I'll put it on my bucket list!
Going over there and seeing another country and doing the hunting sounds great.   What's holding me back is what to do with all the trophies and dead animal heads?    What to do with them and where to put them, as well as the cost and all htat.  Might have to settle for a photo safari.
Besides, who wants all that elephant dung on theirboots?  .

I will pursue a Cape Buffalo with a bow before I die, good possibility of that being when I die. Those critters are something else.

I know there is a member from the site that has done a hunt over in that neck of the woods.  My dad has done some work over there and would love to go on a hunt.  I would sooner go to alaska myself but if some one was footing the bill I surely wouldnt complain about it.

I don't think I could kill an Elephant.  I don't know why but I just feel they should be left alone.

Could feed a lot of folks, I mean my mom always yelled at me growing up that there were hungry mouths in Africa so eat your dinner.  I guess you could look at it as following your moms wishes

There are areas in Africa with too many elephants to support their population.  You can shoot a cow elephant for a relatively reasonable price.   A friend of mine has shot two, both raiding villagers crops.   You can't keep any part of the elephant, only pictures, but there are firms who produce exact replicas of the tusks down to the smallest nick and stain.  They actually look pretty cool.

A season on elephants is pretty much necessary in some parts. They rip up alot of trees and no natural predators once they get of age. It's not like it would be wasted if you shot one, just not my cup of tea.

I wonder if they would still let people use those over there.

Kind of reminds me of the North Dakota Game and Fish issuing elk licenses for unit E3.

There is enough land to sustain a population of 75,000 elephants in Botswana and there is currenlty a population of 250,000.
Looks like they need to be hunted more.

You may find their sheds! But I'll shoot them dead!
