What did you learn inappropriately late in life?

Kind of after Jiffy's "You're Cool" thread, I was curious at what some of you may have learned a little later in life that in hindsight seems like something you should have known years earlier.

I was a little over 40 before I knew how to use an automated drive through carwash.

I was about 28 before I learned that me and massive amounts of alcohol don't mix.

I honestly don't have enough time and space to post appropriately.

All I know is everyone from parents, teachers, coaches and fellow farmers in a local elevator always said "if I could do it over again" stories for years.  I listened but thought none of it...or little of it.

They were all right...and now it is becoming my turn to pass on what I am learning.  But all I see is what the above people saw....blank stares and shoulder shrugs.

Life is funny.

Spend time with the people that matter most, your family... especially the older (aunts, uncles and grand parents) and younger (your kids and nieces & nephews). One won't be along for much longer and the other will be changed for the rest of their lives.

Slow down your hunting/fishing style so you can take a kid or an old person with you, it will change how you view the sport as you experience it through them.

Know what your values are and stick to them when making the simplest of decisions... it will make the harder one's easier to make and even easier to live with...

Learn to live below your means... it has never been more fashionable than during a recession!!! and you will thank yourself later.

Never use the wrong sized wrench just because you dont feel like going and getting the right one, cost me a $300 ER visit and 4 stitches in my thumb, brilliance at the age of 41

1) I'm a slow learner - took me till age 40 for the booze thing!

2) NEVER do business or a partnership with people you assume are friends.  Read every bit of the fine print in any documents drawn up by an attorney and have your own personal attorney objectively look through absolutely everything, thinking of every unintended consequence of every well intended clause before you sign on the dotted line.  Forget the Golden Rule nowadays!   This ain't Sunday School back in the 50's......

Very true...The best looking girls that i have known/dated have been the most insecure and are often approached less then their average friends. Unfortunately it took me until late in college to figure this out.
