What is the Crud Going Around Called?

Not to sound any alarms but anybody been sick with this?  The cough is supposed to stick around for a couple more weeks as I have been told by laymen.  Went to the doc three weeks ago, described my symptoms and was not diagnosed with anything specific.  Was given cough syrup and sent on my way.  The cough refuses to leave.  I have eaten enough cough drops to kill a horse.  Tired of it.

I had it for a couple of months.  I still have a sinus infection.  I was on anibiotics for about 10 days which did absolutely nothing.  The cough finally went away but I sure had a sore throat.

Wife was sick til yesterday, I'm home with a sick kid again today, I'm on my 3rd hour of catching up on Deadliest Catch, somehow I was able to find the only frozen pizza in existence that is aweful, it's overcast and no wind and I'm not fishing. Terrible stuff that is for sure, sounds like people are sick everywhere. I feel fine other than the inside of the house makes me want to lose my mind.

I dont go around guessing cup sizes either I just know a nice rack when I see one.

Yeah...forgot about the sore throat part the first week.  I feel fine other than this damb cough.  I was on antibiotics also, but they had no effect on the cough symptoms.  My wife still coughing also.  Neither of my kids have come down with it though.  Weird.  Thought for sure we would get it.

Sounds like what has been going around Bismarck for quite awhile.
Only hope is probably to drown it out.

Mine lasted for a month back in March.  My sinus still isn't back to normal.  As soon as I lack just a little sleep, it seems like it kicks back in.

Quack quack.

I wish it was just a hangover...

Lots of people I talk to say that the only real way to get rid of a hangover is to eat dog hair.  Does that mean that dog owners who never clean their house never have hangovers?

Quack quack!

In our family of 9 people, everyone but me has had it (knock on wood!).  One of my boys has had it for a month.  We had all 7 kids to the doctor... and over $1,000 later (i.e. out of pocket - no insurance) was told that it would have to "run its course" and that the cough could take 4-6 weeks to subside.

The one boy (6 yrs. old), that has had it for a month, goes into coughing fits so bad he throws up.  He was skinny to begin with, but now has lost weight to the point that he looks on the verge of being an Ethiopian.  In an effort to encourage him to eat more and "put some meat on his bones", I took him to the store last night and let him do his own grocery shopping.  About $140 later we walked out of the store with his choices.  :o)  I've NEVER done that before, but I'm so worried about him that I figured I'd do whatever it took to get him to eat something.  Go figure, one of the things he picks out was Jack's Links Beef Sticks... a $17 bag of them!  :o)

Hope you guys and your families get better.  And I hope everyone else stays healthy!

that actually works... once you fill your stomach with dog hair... you forget all about whatever your problem(s) was/were before you started eating the dog hair.

Must be nice Tim, whats your secret? Sauger blood? ha ha just kidding.

This is a great product for boosting your immune system. Your supposed to take  it right away when you begin to get sick, but it cant hurt to take when you already are sick. This stuff especially works for cold-type symptoms.

FWIW,

I got this defense from Dr. Mike Savage and it does work.  When you feel it coming on, go to garlic; it produces sulphur compounds which kills stuff.  I get the gel-tabs from GNC.  MULTI-VITAMINS(Centrum, One A Day, etc) CAN KILL YOU. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.  Take enough PURE vitamin C to produce farting.  I chew tablets, the Doc recommends the pure ascorbic acid route. If you still awaken under a saltwater truck(non-alcohol induced); try this:  1tbs honey, 1tbs cayenne pepper, 1 tbs of lemon juice.  I sip it like a good whiskey because I'm not man enough to shoot it.  It's not THAT bad...

Antibiotics and their misuse have produced super bad stuff.  Children are powerful vectors for disease. Wash your hands.  Wash your hands.  Wash your hands.

Sounds like whooping cough. Went through my home town last year. Not much a doc can do but never hurts to get in and have it checked out. The Doc told me another name for whooping cough is the 100 day cough. It sucks and just doesnt seem to go away.

Sounds like some variation of the flu. Afterall, the true flu is a respiratory illness and not some 24 hr bug that gives a person an upset stomach.

I just go back from the Dr. same symptoms.  I hardly ever go to the Dr.  Just got sick of coughing everyday, and drinking water to help my throat and cough.  I thought I might have pneumonia because a 2 co-workers had the same symptoms and thats what they had.  Chest exray was ok though, so it must be this crap you guys are talking about.

i'm amazed I still haven't gotten sick yet, everyone in my house has had it. I think maybe some of us that have had the, lets call it "college experience" lived in such pollution and probably drank our way through it, that we might be immune to almost anything. Knocking on wood.

Do you guys get the flu shot ?   I never had one and don't plan on it till I get old,  If even then.    I wouldn't doubt that 10 or 20 years from now we will be hearing that the flu shot is bad for you.

I now get it every year.  Only had to have the flu migrate into full pneumonia with a collapsed lung once to learn my lesson.

Some claim even if you catch a different strain of the flu than what was used to produce the vaccine that your experience tends to not be so bad.  Anecdotally, I would tend to agree.  The daughter was diagnosed with influenza "A" about 20 days ago and it never was really as bad as the above posts sound.  So far I have escaped the flu bug this year.
