Walleye mount pictures.

All,  I am looking for some pictures of walleye mounts that anyone is willing to share.  Just looking for ideas to help spur me along.  I have been fortunate enough to catch two big walleyes in the past three weeks and I am leaning towards having them done together.   The below pictures are what I am looking at so far.  Thinking about going with a rock base since I caught both fish in the rocks but I like the look of the driftwood as well!  Also, thinking I would like to have them chasing something.  Maybe have one angled up like like it's coming off the bottom and have the other one parallel.  (relates to how each fish was caught)

I would really appreciate anyone willing to share pictures of there mounts!!  Thanks guys.

Frosty

2 pigs walleye on a rock base like this would be nice.  Notice the top left fish has mouth closed.  i think the fish look more natural with their mouth shut.  Maybe have one mouth open and one closed on your mount.

That would be cool. very true dont see many mounts with the mouth shut. Good idea!

Thanks for the pictures!  I was kind of leaning that way Enslow, one fish with mouth open and one closed.

Keep the pictures and ideas coming.

I have mine in a case.  Top is my son's 11 and my 10 on the bottom.  The hot and tot is suspended from the side of the case.  I took a length of lead core, pulled the lead out and fed in a stiff wire.  Then wrapped it around a screw and into the side.  It is completely sealed and in 4 years, not a bit of dust in it.   The nice thing is since I made the cabinet out of matching oak to our living room, my wife allows it in the "formal" living room.

Man you guys have some nice mounts!!  I really like the table top or coffee table style but I don't have the damn room for one.  Someday!  Wall space is kind of at a premium in the living room w/ all the mounts already but I think a good rock/habitat scene like Enslows or Murphys would look awesome!!  Keep sharing pictures guys.  I like looking at them all and maybe give me a few more ideas.  Thanks

Here's my 360 mount.  I'm having another one done to go with this one in a table much like the ones already posted.

I really like the detail in this pic.  You can see the blades on the gill plates.

The detail work is IMO exceptional!!

This is how I had my 15 pounder done on a 3D pedestal. I'd like to put real perch on it someday thou, turned out pretty cool.

Most of the mounts on this thread are from S&S taxidermy in minot, hands down the best walleye & pike painting I've seen

You won't be disappointed.  My old man had 2 done about 20 years ago and they still look really nice.

Here's one of them.  Not the best pic, but you get the idea.  This mount was about 17-18 years old when this pic was taken.

Not trying to start anything ahab, but don't you think the verticle "dark lines" on the side are way too pronounced?  Frenchy in Minot does that too and I think they make the walleye look too perch-like.  Gorgeous fish, just don't like the paint job. jmo.

It's hard to appreciate any of the mounts above without seeing them in person.  Type of light, angle, etc. will affect the perception.  It also depends on what the fish looked like and if that was a goal in the mount.  Everybody has what they like and dislike and those can be communicated to a taxi before work is done.  One thing I am a big stickler on is shape.  Some of the forms I have seen don't look to walleye like in shape.  To address your question above, some fish have that type of marking as well.

To me the 4 fish on the stringer look the best of any and the most natural. My roommate has a couple walleyes done by S&S and I have seen a ton of his work and have been nothing but impressed.

That stringer mount is awesome!

I have done a lot of research on taxidermy as that is what I'm going to do when I retire. You NEED to check out Rick Krane, his work is second to none! Check out his website

anglerartistry.com

Or just google his name or the shops name...it's worth the time for anyone wanting to have an exceptional mount in their home.

His repos are out of this world as well.

Ive never really looked into reproductions.  Not to hijack this thread, but do prices compare on average to real fish mounts?

I only have the prices from one taxidermist but for reproductions you have two options, one is 75 cents an inch cheaper than a regular mount and the other option is 2 dollars per inch more than a regular mount.  I have always thought the essence of the fish is much better preserved with a real mounted fish instead of a replica, although some replicas are very good, I guess it depends on who does them but for me I think ill stick with mounting real fish for now.
