Just wondering how long your batteries last and where you can buy a new one at. Had mine for over 2 years and i can't get it to keep the charge this year.

1-2 years depending on use and I pick up my replacements at interstate battery. They are cheaper there than at the sport stores.
The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. Then why do I hunt? I hunt for the same reason my well-fed cat hunts...because I must, because it is in the blood, because I am the decendent of a thousand generations of hunters. I recommend the 9amp vexilar battery(v-100),$20 or even the 7amp(v-50) for $15,because they have no memory.Keep away from the panisonic 7amp gel, you'll be lucky to get 1 winter out of it.

For years vex came with the 7amp(actually 7.2) and if you top the battery off every 60days or so thru-out the summer you can get 3 season tops. Its a good idea to have a backup along anyway or at least a 12v charger to plug into your ligther outlet in your truck.

Tim,

I know they sell the cigarette lighter type plugs to charge in the truck, but can a guy take an old cell phone charger and cut the end, put a couple of alligator clips on it and call it good? Just curious as I have alot of those cords laying around.

Good Luck and Good Fishin'

Good idea! I believe the cell phone cord is 1amp should work fine just don't confuse which is positive...:-)

Here's another idea to help retain the charge in these batteries, insulate it with styrafoam, enclose the battery with it and if ya have the pro-pack cut a 2-3"(thick) and glue to the bottom of the pack, keeps the battery fresh longer plus it won't slide around on the open ice.
