That was a good game and I don't even really like basketball all that much.

They don't have to hang their heads that is for sure!  Good job guys!

Tim,
How slow did Woody look today?

Great effort but no answer for the big guy in the middle.

NO answer for Aldrich but an excellent effort in their first flirt with the DANCE.

Woodside played awesome.

I really though KU would have stomped NDSU quite a bit harder but NDSU hung in there and they have nothing to be ashamed of.  They were playing the defending national champions and played them well.  Now, we get to watch a real national title contender play hockey tonight.

I think if they would have been able to knock down a couple of their shots when it was 53 to 56 it would have been a totally different ball game because KU was stuck on 56 their for a little while. None the less it was a great game played by NDSU

Slow enough to have 8 or 9 turnovers.  Heh, heh....

Kansas defense totally took away the fling of the three pointer and perimeter from NDSU.  You could see it happen almost instantly after it was clear NDSU was dangerous from that distance.  And why did they do that?  Someone said it, big guys.  The offensive boards and offensive tips or slams off rebounds were deadly.  Not to mention the fouls they created from those attempts.

Valiant effort indeed.  Woodside good and even great player, yes indeed.  Tviedt a good player...gonna be a darn good one the next two years.

Speed of game, I guess you could say Oakland must have wanted to slow it down.  Kansas wanted to run (well for awhile until they realized that wasn't going to be the best thing for them).  At times NDSU was using too much of that senior patience where they did let go of chances at open shots.  Although, maybe those shots just weren't feasible for the guy getting the pass at the time.  Had to watch while working so I didn't get to see everything dead accurate.

Good game.  Look out for Kansas (not this year).  With all starters being sophomores except one they are going to be deadly the next few years (depending on how many jump ship for a shot at the draft).

NDSU just couldn't match the size of KU inside. If KU wanted they could have went down low every time (which they just about did).

NDSU played very well and Ben Woodside kept them in the game to the end. I do think a couple of Bison players could have stepped up a little more like in the Oakland game. Or if a few more of those shots fell midway through the second half it could have been a whole different ballgame. I did notice a few non-calls that could have benefited NDSU.  I do feel if it would have come down to one shot Woodside would have nailed it. He will need to improve on his defense if he wants to make it in the NBA.

Ben Woodside - 37 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, 6 turnovers.  Bill Self said that he is the best guard they played against this year.  Or maybe he said point guard, I can't remember.

I don't expect Collins to be back at Kansas next year.  If Aldrich projects as a high first round pick, he is probably gone too.  Still, they probably have a stable full of talent waiting to step up.

NDSU, like all mid-majors, has trouble finding big stoppers to play the 5.  They always go to the high major programs.

I wonder if Tubby was in the stands?  If he was, he was probably wondering why that idiot Monson passed on a kid from just down the road.

Ya Aldrich dominated the paint.  It would have been nice for SU to have a guy with that size in the middle.  Have to see how there team looks next year and if they get some good recruits in the offseason.   Nice to see Woodside leading in total points in the tourny  sofar.

The Bison have some decent talent coming back.  Tveit is the real thing.  Coleman, Sussenguth, Flowers all have things to contribute.  Flowers needs to get tougher and develop ability to finish at the rim.  I'm missing a couple names right now and I believe there are a redshirt or two that we expect to contribute.

One of the recruits is a big kid from Rothsay, MN.  He is close to 7'.  I think 6'11" with a big wingspan.  Probably redshirt to build some strength.  He is kind of a project like all big men that teams like us get.  He originally didn't get too many looks from the bigger programs and he verballed to NDSU as a junior.  Last summer he really got some attention for his play on the AAU circuit and started getting some calls but told them that he already verballed and hasn't wavered.  This success should keep him coming to NDSU.

Congrats to the Bison on a great season and a heck of a game with Kansas. Yeah Aldrich hurt em, but NDSU knew that was their weakest part of the defense. Kid is a heck of a player and will be in the league shortly, nothing to hang their heads about!

Tim your an idiot. Don't say anything about basketball ever again on this site. Aldrich and Collins are gone next year for sure. Woodside was getting hacked and rode on half the game which was a cause of his turnovers, which amounted to 6 not 9. This was the biggest one way game as far as the refs were concerned. I was 8 rows away from Kansas's second half basket. Lucas was set when he got called for that blocking foul. Another big one was the foul we supposidly had on Aldrich when he dunked it at the end on the rebound. He turned and started running the other way because even he didn't think he got fouled. It was just little stuff like that the whole day.

Didn't get to see much of the game but what I saw was impressive on the Bison end.  They played with them but just had no answer for Aldrich.  Woodside didn't dissappoint and I hope he gets a look at the next level.  Congrats on a great season!

bradyg how do you know they are gone.  Aldrige is not ready for the nba for sure.  He is not physical enough, and if you are watching the tournament there are quite a few point guards that could have a game like Collins did against  ndsu defense.  Those calls were calls the number 3 seed gets against the 14 seed because they are more talented. watch the rest of the low seed high seed games you wil see the same thing.  In the end if you were 8 rows up you saw a group of seniors get beat by a group of sophmores that were just plain more talented.  If aldrige would have played more minutes it wouldn't have been a game.

Very proud of the young men up stairs. they made ND proud today. No reason for anyone to hang their head. Out of all the schools in Division 1 they will always be number 1 in my book. In years to come as NDSU grows in the sport they can look back at future success and realize they played a big part in setting the stage.

Congratulations guys you showed some heart today your accomplishments will always be part of NSDU and North Dakota

Thanks for the memories!

bradyg the more I read your post the dumber you get.  8 rows up should have been close enuff for you to see the talent difference. Blaming the refs makes you the idiot.  I was 6 feet away from my 42 inch wide screen and that blocking call was a  good call they were both on the spot at the same time that always goes to the offensive side.  You are taking away from there acomplishment by talking about the refs.
