Has anybody seen any Longbeards in Unit R or 18? Have a spot to hunt, but I have to get the Turkeys to cross a river, because the guy on the other side doesn't give hunting permission to anyone! Would be greatly appreciated if anybody could point me in a direction and help me get on some gobs. Thanks.

what part of unit R? It is a pretty big unit. You'd be suprised how much info you could find just by knocking on some random guys door. He might say no we don't have any but I know Johnny down the road had some this winter and so on and so on.

There is alot of turkeys in R it just depends what part of the unit you are in.. Also you can pull the turkeys across the river, I have done it a few times before in the past.

Yeah I have pulled across a river before, but the guy is really being a jerk about it though, he is feeding them twice daily and his generator has been running, so when I call they can't hear me to respond, and why would they want to leave anyways!?! I have my work cut out for me It sucks. I am in Larimore, but willing to travel around to get on some.

If you have a tag for unit 18, go to the forest river hutterrite colony and ask for permission. Several times I had turkeys crossing the road going to the hoots farm. They are very nice people. I will post later about unit R, my sons and I have tags for R. There are a couple of flocks that i know of south of you, and after we fill, I will tell you exactly where they are.

Appreciate the help guys, I did not get the Turkeys to cross the Creek Sat morning, but I was successful on a different flock Sunday Afternoon near Larimore, not a monster but that meat sure looks good! Also, you were right about hutterrite colony, very nice people and pointed me in the right direction.
By the Way, there is an abdunance of Turkeys near Tolna if any one is looking for a spot, and most of the people are helpful around there and do not like the Turkeys!

MHanson--Hell yeah its fun! Im surprised more people don't get into it in ND. I get just as excited with a screaming gobbler 20 yards away than I do with a whitetail walking under my treestand.

I think that alot of people around where I live that are still kind of in the "ohhh honey... look at the turkeys in the yard, let's go feed 'em" phase.(One of the reasons I went to Tolna) But they'll get over it soon enough, people are starting to understand these birds are just about as destructive as a herd of elk, and they taste great too!

Congrats on a successful weekend... Thats awesome.
