Trophy buck brings three more charges for Cannon Falls hunter

The Cannon Falls man who was charged with poaching a world-record eight-point buck last fall is now being charged with shooting it out of season.

The Goodhue County Attorney's office filed three additional charges on Wednesday against 32-year-old Troy Alan Reinke: a gross misdemeanor charge for taking big game out of season and two misdemeanor charges for unlawful possession of wild animals. He was already facing 13 misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor charges for poaching the trophy buck as well as two other deer, Assistant Goodhue County Attorney David Grove said.

Reinke originally told Department of Natural Resources conservation officers that he shot the big buck with a bow while hunting on Halloween. But in a second interview with investigators, he said he didn't kill it but found the buck already dead.

Reinke is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Hunting privilages should be gone!! I am sick and tired of all the illegal and unethical crap that goes on! You do it around me and the authorities will be called. It seems the more time I am in the field, the more I see, and I am sick of it!  We all  just got cheated out of a chance at a buck of a lifetime. What is that worth? Hefty fine and pull his privilages that's what I say! I will also say to those of you that don't want to play by the rules, that my eyes are open and I carry my cell phone with the local warden on speed dial. Beware!!!!

The actual penalty after pleading down will be laughable, wait and see. What is even more moronic is that the people and the DNR finally take interest because of the size of the animal. If this guy is caught with five untagged doe in his garage its a small fine and hand slap.

We as sportsmen all got cheated! What do you mean by accident? Like the guy I saw spotlighting a corn stubble field the week after season saw the gun flash and drove away when I put my pick up lights on? Or the buck shot with a rifle during bow season then dragged off the refuge after dark, his pictures are  on this site? Or the guy spring canada goose hunting with spotting scope and .22, spotting them with bands, shooting them cutting the bands off and leaving the carcasses to rot? I am a outdoor enthusiast who is sick and tired of this kinda crap!! By accident if you mean the guy who accidently gets a double when he was one bird short of a limit, or things like that, I really don't have an issue with that. It's the blatant disregard for our game laws that I am talking about! Call me a wanna be or whatever, but if we all kept our eyes open and did as such, we could weed the trash out of our ranks that give us all a bad name.
Sorry, Call em in, You might not agree and that's your right, but we all know the wardens are spread thin and have a thankless job and only catch a small fraction of the abusers. They soil our ranks and take away opportunities from us that do play by the rules! If your on the wrong side of the fence whine all you want, but be warned!!!

NOT YELLING JUST US CAPITAL LETTERS CAUSE THATS WHAT IS USE FOR MY WORK, DRAFTING, sorry, i just seems  to me that if you had your eyes on the feild instead of the poachers you too could have a buck of a lifetime, dont get me wrong im not in favor of poaching and yes they need to be thinned out, but let the right guys do there job.  it sounded like you would go out to try to hunt for these people instead of hunting for the buck of a life-time.  they will get caught and given what they deserve, but they are times that people report things that arent always true.  like driving off an astablished trail that i have permissions and have to fight a phone call to prove myself right, not fair when they see what they want to see and not ask questions.  i realize alot of people are sick and tired of this people taking atvanage of the game but thats why there are wardens getting pd to do there job, yes they are spread to thin but so are many other jobs out there, they do what they can.  i have heard of to many times people like you calling in not knowing the whole story geeting innocent people into trouble, when they were in the right.  i guy in briardale got into trouble the same way you are talking about and it cost him lots of money to prove he wasnt guilty, and he was found innocent, all this because on a wanna be havinf the wardens # on speed dial.  do you think he got his money back?  NO due process take it as u will just know the whole story before u make the call and cost others.  i almost gave up hunting because of people that like to get others into situatuion becasue they wanted all the game to themselves.

im not upset i just got a phone call about this topic today and maybe in should explian, not all people that hunt are poachers, but if someone calls a warden and reports something the warden is gonna think automatically that something has been done, but in actual reality nothing was done wrong, and they all watsed time.  i sounded to me like tearbear would report ANYTHING he thought was wrong doing.  many farmers get accused of this and they can do what they want on there land.  hunters that are doing it the right way suffer from those who would like to do what they are doing and a simple phone call to a warden, gets them in trouble with no wrong doing at all.  i know people, myself included that where turned in and were in the wrong and it cost alot of money to prove your innocence, with no money returned.  i will report poaches if i am 100 % certain but if not its not my job to interfere, casue i know what its like to be called a cheater and then be cleared of it.  you will always have a bad rap weather or not you were legel or not.  sorry if anyone takes this the wrong way.  just make sure before you call someone in to a warden you have the RIGHT facts that they did something wrong.

There are a lot of people who jump to conclusions especially on this site when most of the time they aren't hearing the whole story, or just that they "heard" something that somebody said and it's not 100% factual.

Why doesn't North Dakota have more game wardens?  Then a lot of these guys will be thinned out faster and less new ones will come.  I think a few of our "game wardens" should be replaced also.
