Tracks For a Polaris Ranger

I'm looking at putting tracks on my Ranger. I've basically narrowed it down to the polaris tracks or the camoplast tatou 4s tracks. Does anyone have experience with either. I would be using them mainly in the winter for ice fishing and getting around in the snow, but the option of using them in the spring/fall in wet field condtions would be a plus also.

I have Tatou 4S & love them.

No problems at all for over 2 years.  Use every day, not easy on 'em either.

last winter bought a new ranger with tracks

per the dealer we started out with the Polaris tracks; had them on the machine for about 20 miles; took it back and forth to the dealer a few times trying to fix the squeak (recall last winter the very light snow cover, the suspension in the tracks on the Polaris have that spring setup, when running on ice without snow the squeaking is horrible)

anyway, the dealer couldn't resolve the issue; they agreed the noise wasn't acceptable, the squeaking was very very loud.  Since they were also a camoplast dealer they swapped the Polaris tracks out for the tatou 4s's.

Additionally at the farm we have a 2nd ranger with the mattracks utv tracks; so we constantly are comparing the setups.

Between the three setups there isn't a huge difference (other then the squeaking on the Polaris).  The tatou's and the mattracks seem better built, maybe a bit heavier.  But they all would probably last well enough.

From a floatation perspective none of them really float; they all just create lots of traction.  I wouldn't put any value in the extra coverage of the tatou's; but of the 3 if I were to buy another set today i'd buy tatou.

I've heard the drive belts don't last running tracks on the Polaris?

Not true, over 600 miles with no problems.  Not on a 2012 800 HD anyhow.

I have had Camoplast on my Honda Rincon for over 3 years. Fantastic! Geat for hunting, ice fishing pushing snow, hauling wood, etc. Wouldn't trade them for anything! My dad has had them for about 2 years and aslo likes them. Can go anywhere you want with all the gear you want and two guys riding. I have been extremely hard on mine and they have been remarkable! Have had to replace two track wheels n all that time. Half the price of Mattracks and 30 lbs lighter per track. You won't be disappointed.

I do not have tracks on mine, but when I bought it I asked the dealer about tracks.  He told me he won't (or will try not to) sell Polaris tracks.   He said they just did not hold up for him on the machines he put them on.  That was a year and a half ago anyway.

I am in the market for a Ranger and installing Camoplast tracks. I will be getting a trailer to haul it around also. I'm curious how wide and long the unit is after the tracks are installed. I was assuming a 7x14 trailer would suffice? Do any of you owners know that measurement?

Sounds to me once again people are running slow speed in high range.  When you go slow you must use low range with or without tracks.  Otherwise hard on belt and clutch.  Not difficult to remedy.

7x14 is what i run for my trailer. I can get my ranger with camoplast tracks on and wedge my clam Yukon between the ramp and back tracks. Not a pile of extra room on the edge but works good. Camoplast tracks are the only option. 3 yrs and no problems with them

I've been wondering the same. Looks like they ride close to 7ft with the tracks and steel cab installed...I wish I coud just take a tape measure to someone's set up so I could price out a trailer, enclosed or open. thanks for the info guys!

Pard has an 825 Gator W/tracks and cab, had to get an enclosed trailer with 8' or 9' sidewalls, I believe he had to go 8' wide too so as to be able to open the cab doors and get out once the vehicle is inside the trailer.

Why yes indeed I can walk on water..............but I do stagger on alcohol.

yup,
they are very well built, but quite a bit more and the camo's are so good now couldn't justify the upcharge to mattracks

in our happy group we have a Polaris set / Camo set / Mattracks all on rangers
