A Dawson man faces felony charges for allegedly trying to steal a pickup from a Bismarck dealership by hoisting it onto a trailer with a payloader.
Corey Sayler, 34, was charged Friday with Class A felony prohibited acts with a controlled substance, Class B felony criminal attempt, Class C felony possession of drug paraphernalia, and Class A misdemeanor unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
South Central District Judge Gail Hagerty set his bond at $15,000 cash and ordered him to submit to random drug testing if released.
Bismarck Police Sgt. Mark Buschena said an employee of CK Auto, 3405 E. Divide Ave., reported at 11:17 p.m. Thursday he had gone to work to pick up a part and heard a payloader running. He saw a man loading a 2006 Ford F-350 onto a flatbed trailer. The man was using the dealership’s payloader with forklift attachments to hoist the pickup onto the trailer.
Buschena said Sayler had a key that fit the payloader but did not belong to CK Auto. The pickup was damaged by the incident.
Police arrested Sayler and impounded his pickup and trailer. While doing an inventory on the pickup, officers found a backpack containing 20 grams of methamphetamine, a scale, a spoon and four syringes.
