They quit making my crossbow bolts

I have a Barnett Wildcat recurve crossbow that shoots 16 inch bolts with half Moon knocks.  Went online to buy some more and found out that Barnett does not make them anymore.  Most of the new crossbows shoot 20 inch.  A question for you guys that do your own arrows.  Could I make two 16 inch bolts out of regular compound arrows, the thicker shaft ones?  How long are the shafts for regular compound bows, are they 32 inches?  Another question, what is it called with the fletching is twisted around the shaft not straight?  I have found out that the twist gives my bolts a truer flight.
Thanks in advance,
Clint

, just because the shaft is the same thickness doesnot mean it will have impact protection. Most cross bows are 120 lb draw. You will have to check shaft thickness and also impact resistance of the original arrows  It would be the same as someone firing a 50 gr bullet at 2800 fps and firing the same bullet at 3700  fps the impact is totally different. Your bow should be able to be converted to take the 20 inch arrows.

The only  difference between the 16 vs. the 20 is downrange penatration, probably starting at about 35 yds.At least that is when I see the difference in the different weights shooting the PSE Nova at 70 lbs.

There are some guys that make custom bolts on there. You cannot use regular shafts for crossbow. Thats the best crossbow forum I have found, lots of info and guys with experience to answer your questions.

The  my Horton Steel Flex crossbow shoots 18 inch bolts and buying them from Horton costs an arm and a leg. As mentioned above, I contacted a party on Ebay who makes custom bolts and he set me up with some carbon shaft bolts that shoot like a dream. I have taken four animals with them. The guy told me that I could send the  four bolts back to him and he would re fletch them for free as long as I paid the shipping. If your interested in the name of the guy let me know and I will see if I can find it in my purchase history on Ebay
