Every time I see a picture of someone fishing on the nasty Red I cringe. I lived in GF for a couple years and I missed the Mighty Mo horribly. I feel bad for you poor suckers that live in the eastern part of the state!

If we're not supposed to eat animals, how come they're made out of meat?

Careful, you haven't given the SD Game and Fish along with the NDGF to take a good look at the building block forage base of smelt.  If the flood water shipped a bunch south it won't be too many years and you will be driving over to the Red River to feel a tug on the line.

Red is fun for trophy walleye and cats.  Just another diverse fishery to enjoy.

That exactly, word for word, was my first thought for a reply. Then I figured it wasn't serious, just a chain-puller post on a slow day.

Back in the late 60's and early 70's, we were one the the 1st to put boats in the Red at Grand Forks.  People asked why we would fish/BOAT such a dirty river.  What they didn't realize was the tremendous big channel cat and nice walleye fishing there was on that "dirty" river.  And a little dirt ain't so bad--many fish other waters with clearer water but much higher toxins (mercury, herbicides, etc).  Add to the fishing a little spring beaver hunting, and the Red River was and is a great source of recreation!

Yep, it sure can be yucky, no argument here. Especially if the moron who owned the home before you figured it would make a good brick repository.

Yep, the fine silts/clays that make it yucky also make it chemically very very clean by binding/holding any bad actors that get into the river. Who would have thunk it? BOD (microscopic food) is another story in the heat of summer. :(

Haha, I suppose the Red could be a totally different creature with a boat. When I was going to college I was stuck fishing from shore. It was better than NO fishing, but had me daydreaming of the clear water and sand beaches of the Mo. DANG those cats are ugly!

Beaver hunting......

Honestly who wears white pants while fishing the Red?  Honestly, who throws a shoe?

I'm sorry buddy, I'm not sure why you remind me of this guy. You should probably go as him for Halloween next year though. Just walk around with a paint brush and color palette. Grow a 'fro and you're good to go.
