I would say the ice is at least 10-12 inches thick. I fish Sweetbriar alot and have never caught a pike out there but I do believe they are in there. This summer I caught the same muskie at least 4 times. He had my orange jigs on each side of his mouth the last time I seen him so if anybody catches him this winter, I would like my jigs back....LOL

I am no expert either, if you aren't sure it was a pike. The tiger muskies that are in there, are very distinctively marked. Also, last year I saw a dead pike on the ice..I was hoping that somebody caught it somewhere else and just left it on the ice. Corey P

You know, i wasnt sure if it was a pike or a muskie to be honest with you, but there were 4 pores on each side of the jaw...shoulda took a picture.....im about 95% sure it was a pike tho. i didnt measure it or weigh it, it wasnt too big, my guess is 25, 26 inches in 10-13 feet of water.

You caught a pike in Sweet Briar? That is not good, they aren't supposed to be in there.

I fished sweetbriar yesterday afternoon/night pretty hard for 6 hours and only managed two bites. I started by putting up my house, punched 3 in the hut in about 25 feet on the bottom with 3 different minnow tipped jigs and I had my customary smelt pole set up outside the house. i fished for 4 hours without a bite. I then moved closer to shore, punched 4 new holes...I have a hand cranked by the way. Im now in about 13 feet of water....nothing, not a bite. I move in closer one more time, getting as close to the bank as i can and i punch a hole and I was thinking it was more, but it was only four feet of water....i put a tiny minnow (landers small) on it thinkin maybe id get a perch or something....after an hour or so i decide im going to move it back 10 yards or so away from the bank and get into 10 f.o.w for the night bite.....as I was cranking my hole my reel started running crazy. I was only a few yards away from it so I got to it in just a couple seconds, set the hook, fought it for a few minutes and caught and released a 23.5 inch walleye.....caught one pike on my smelt as well right before we left.

fish junkie, iam guessing the ice to be around twelve inches maybe alittle bit more i just used tip ups with plain hooks and minnows a foot off the bottom, i think that is the key to all of it you dont need all the fancy jigs

went out to sweetbriar today, was kinda iffy about the ice, but i saw other holes, so i tryed by the dam, kinda alot of shady spots though, drilled about 11 holes to try to find some fish, but had no luck, so we sat in about 15ft, had no bites from 2:30 to about 3:30 and around 4 we caught a 8 inch walleye, and graphed a few fish, and that all we got. ice is about 8-10 inches, water is really clear
