Went out and checked around for a few bass. Water temp is still cool. But I didn't manage to catch one lil' dinky largemouth up in the creek. Can't wait for the water to warm up sooner. The bass will be biting soon. The bass bandits have a tournament there this year, gotta get practiced up!

Went out yesterday after a round of golf because I had to finish the day off doing my two favorite things. I just moved to Bismarck and love to bass fish so I thought I'd give Sweet Briar a try.
Well I only fished from shore, but I threw jigs with grubs, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and texas rigged at the lake and didn't have a single bite. I tried all of these baits with different speeds and colors....no luck. I did notice one boat out on the lake on the South end but didn't have a chance to talk with them. Can't complain too much because it was so unbelievably nice out....and I was fishing not working :) The water is extremely murky. |

Went out to Sweetbriar this afternoon thinking we could maybe fish some open water up at the northwest corner but there wasn't much open water yet. A lot of water is running in but there is also a lot of ice flowing in and is jammed up. Ice looks pretty rotten and there is no way you could get on it anyways. Hopefully in another week or 10 days it will open up for some open water fishing.

anyone been out to sweet briar lately?? wondering if it is still possible to get on the ice or how the ice conditions were. I'm sure the edges are terrible but just trying to see if i could get out one more time this year. any info would be great! Thanks.

Went out to sweet briar yesterday up the creek a bit, got pitched up and settled about 10:30. Dropped the camera down the hole and instantly see a nice sized northern. No take. I start to surf around for a bit a notice a rod and reel at the bottom. Fish her out and fish for a bit. Seen alot of small perch a nd a few northers no takers. Move a couple hudred yards into the creek, get set up, drop cam and again see a nice northern immediately. No take. Cruise around with the cam again and bamn, another rod, left that one. Seen hundreds of fish with very little takers. Ended up with three small northerns and four perch, all released for another day of course. Pretty new to the ice fishing game so if anyone wants to offer advise of good spots on sweet briar or other spots close to mandan would be greatly appreciated.

FISHED FROM 10:30 TO 4:00 YESTERDAY. NOT EVEN ONE BITE DRILLED AROUND 20-25 HOLES DIDN'T SEE ANYONE ELSE CATCH ANYTHING. REALLY SLOW THE WORST LUCK I HAVE HAD HERE.

went to sweet briar got there at about 230 and left at 5 but in that time i caught five perch about 9 to 10 inches was fishing in about 11 feet of water and also i was wondering if anyone has been catching walleyes and where i can go on the lake to get some walleyes any info would be great thanks
