" Faith = trust or belief without proof. "

At least you are consistent.  By being wrong at every turn, I mean.  Secular man may try to define faith in a similar fashion as you have, but it is a failed attempt.  Faith is very real, and the closer you come to true faith the more tangible it becomes.  Faith is a gift, but again, it is not forced on us.

The prophet Mohammed you say?   If he is a prophet then he is not a god, is he?

"What if your "god" is the false god, how are you so sure?"

Faith is exactly what is needed.  Evil can speak to your brain, your heart, your dreams.  God can also of course, but also speaks to all at a much deeper level.

"Also interesting that almost none of them claim to believe in a particular religion"

Well, now you resort to outright lies in your desperation to save your god, which of course is your ego.   People tend to be private about many things, most of these very scientists may not publicly claim a denomination but certainly follow one.  But this talk is really not about religion, not for me anyway.  It is about God.  A belief in and devotion to God does not require a denomination.

The rest of your attempt is nothing more than accumulated blither blather, let's knock it down to the meat and potatos.

"Do they go to hell when they die?"

We, each individual, can not know that about any other person.  We, each individual, must know that about ourselves.  That is the gift faith provides.

I'll admit, I may be looking for rorschachs on dog butts after seeing that.

Imagine being completely and utterly alone, in the dark, and in the cold - absolutely nothing to hear, feel, touch, taste, smell, love... just nothing but your consciousness.

That's what I think hell is - absent and apart from God and the simple gifts we take for granted every day. Yeeks!

So I think there is no "going to hell" when you die. Instead I think you simply "go nowhere". Absolute nowhere.

I have not come to this conclusion via anyone else's suggestion/writings. Have any of you heard such meanderings before? Your thoughts?

MSA food for thought: Jews, Christians, Muslims all worrship the same God.....kinda like some fishermen think walleye fishing is the best while others think panfishing is better while yet others say Salmon are the best.... Common denominator they all like to fish.

Being a specie that knows it is going to die, such things will be in all of our heads until the consiousness switch is turned off.  My mind searches for the same reasons and logic.  Like a scared child reaching for a teddy bear, we grasp and cling to anything that might give us hope that there may be something after.  I guess we'll see, but I'm in no hurry to tell anyone I told them so.

Alone with my thoughts is better than nothing at all, feeling pain is better than nothing, I welcome many of the human descriptions of hell as opposed to what I'm expecting.  This is one of the few arguments I participate in where I wished the opposing side was right.

so you're saying as long as someone worships at least one of the available "gods" you get a ticket to heaven?  Zeus was worshipped by the majority long before any notions of Jesus or christianity, if I worship zeus, how do you know I'll get eternal life, or a bunch of inexperienced virgins that have never heard of a cleveland steamer.

there's so many god's to choose from, what if I worship multiple gods?  heres a site with a few thousand listed with brief descriptions of each and how they are to be worshipped.  Can you decide which one would be the best choice for an eternal life pass.  If so, why?

It is human nature to want to live forever.  I believe in human nature, it's easy to.  I also believe in spiritual nature, it's also easy to.  Just in a very different way.

"there's so many god's to choose from"

There is?  Man would tell you so.  What does God tell you?

"Can you decide which one would be the best choice for an eternal life pass."

Decide?  Nobody has to decide anything of the sort.  Bob Dylan or Alice Cooper might travel from not only different denominations to different religions entirely, including none and back again.  To go from Jew to Christian or athiest to Christian or Hindu to Jew is not the issue.  The individual is the center piece of their own journey.  The common denomintator in the end is always God.  The beginning and the end.  The Alpha and Omega.  None of us have an advantage of any kind over anyone else.  We are all of equal importance, all with equal opportunity.  We need to earn nothing.  We only need to accept.

Multi: In Exodus 20:2-3 it says "2 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 3 You shall have no other gods before me"  There is no other Gods, just one.  I believe in the bible and have faith in God, the one that created the heavens and the earth.

I am not here to argue with you but just share with you why I believe in God.  I grew up in a home that believed in Jesus and God.  We went to church but the church that we went to didn't really do a good job of teaching us youth about Jesus and God.  So for 32 years I knew there was a God but didn't know why there was a Noah's Ark, why Moses freed Egypt, why Jesus came, etc.

I met my wife and she pushed me into going to a church that really explained the bible and put it into context to where I could understand.  The members of the church kept on giving Testimonies on what great things God is doing for them.  So it got me thinking if God is doing those great things for them I bet he can do great things for me.  So I tested God, I gave money to the church, more than I should of because it put my family in financial trouble but I learned that if you give or Tithe God will not only give you that back but also more.  Later that week I got a check from a lawyer saying that we over charged you and here is the difference.  A lawyer sending me a check, like that happens.  I believe it was all God.  We continue to tithe and about 6 months ago we hit a snag again.  So I went back to work and told them that I need this much money to make this work.  The next week they came back and gave me more than what I was asking.  Again I believe that was God.  I put my faith in him and he rewards.

I have complete faith in God and because of that has done great things in my life.  I am a better man, husband, and father because of him.  Don't get me wrong I am not perfect and do sin but that is the great thing about Jesus.  He died for our sins.

Again I am not going to argue with anyone, this is just my testimony on why I believe in and have faith Jesus and God.

Ever read "23 minutes in Hell"??  I tend to think it is more like how this book describes it. Also many scripture to back it up.

I am pretty much dead set on starting a mountain lion ranch, not so much in my yard, but somebody elses.  My question is, when I board the game and fish trailer, will I get in less trouble if I am wearing an eyepatch? Will I get in no trouble if I say AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGG?   Also, how tall should I make the fence?  I am thinking 24 inches should be fine because that is how wide rabbit wire is.

Thoughts or suggestions?
