Gosh, I never really understood my faith until a Godless looter explained it to me in a cynical and spiteful cartoon.

So where's the part in Scripture where Christ tells his followers that if they can't be persuaded to give charitably of their own volition, those left wanting should take it by force, decide who is in most need, and imprison those who fail to comply? My Bible seems to be missing that chapter.

Yet, even if all "charity" was run by, say, churches, would you sell literally all you have and give to the poor? Life is pretty damn short and history clearly shows people tend not to give a whole lot to those who need it.

And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

Kraken you better have a good pastor explain that scripture to you.  Find one well versed in Greek that can interpret original script.  You will find the young fellow was bragging about following all the laws and never violating them.  Of course no person has ever done that.  So he loved his money and Jesus simply challenged him and the man choose his love of money over God.

Have you ever heard "he who does not work neither shall he eat"?  Some of our lazy that sell their vote to the liberals for a free ride should perhaps consider this.

In the below statement about Jamestown do you know why Smith abaondon the common store system?  Because even back then people did the same thing they do today.  They would get lazy and take without working for it.   Sort of before their time democrats.

New Testament

This concept is derived directly from the Second Epistle of Paul the Apostle (with Silvanus and Timothy) to the Thessalonians, in which Paul writes:

εἴ τις οὐ θέλει ἐργάζεσθαι μηδὲ ἐσθιέτω

that is,

If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.[2]

The Greek phrase οὐ θέλει ἐργάζεσθαι means “is not willing to work”. Other English translations render this as “would”[3] or “will not work”[4], which may confuse readers unaccustomed to this use of the verb "will" in the archaic sense of “want to, desire to”.

Jamestown

The slogan is said to have been used by John Smith when establishing the English colony of Jamestown, Virginia after an experiment with a common store system was abandoned (1607-1609).[5][6]

Plainsman-You do know the quote from Paul to the Thessalonians became a slogan for socialistic societies?  It was also agreed on by Lenin who stated this idea was a necessary principle of socialism.  This idea was not directed at the lazy or unproductive so much as it was the Bourgeoise.
Going back to   Mark chapt. 10:21-25 - Jesus said  how hard is it for the rich to enter the Kindom of God?"  It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then a rich man to enter the Kindom of Heaven.  In regard to healing, Jesus forgave  the sick with prexisting conditions or those whose benefits had been tapped out.
BTW- much to the disdain of the powers that be he did much of this  on Sunday!

"Gosh, I never really understood my faith until a Godless looter explained it to me in a cynical and spiteful cartoon."

Perhaps you would prefer the attempted explanation from fishmahn the Godless looter??

"It was also agreed on by Lenin who stated this idea was a necessary principle of socialism."
Lenin agreed with nothing Christ taught.  He manipulated and twisted everything he could though, and fed it to those he labled as "useful idiots".  He especially liked to use that term for the young college aged fools and others who were so easliy led.

Sloth and theft are both great sins, and both encouraged by any good socilaist.  Any statist knows that the more citizens he can crush under the weight of his thumb and the more power he will have.    Any good socialist in power HATES the independent thinker and worker.  Free enterpise is the death of socialsim.  Obozo style politics is the death of the individual citizen.

" This idea was not directed at the lazy or unproductive so much as it was the Bourgeoise."

This is how Lenin twisted it, of course.  Even a blind sheep should be able to figure that out.  Christ, by his own words and through others such as Paul, was talking about each and every one of us as individuals.

" It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then a rich man to enter the Kindom of Heaven. "

A poor man can be in love with money, power, and sloth every bit as much as any "rich" man.  "Rich" is a state of mind, a removal in choice from the teachings of God.  The "eye of the needle" was a very narrow and crooked passage way into the city very common in the time of Christ.  It could actually easily be accomplished in a slow and focused approach, but nearly impossible by an invading army.  The eye of the needle was a tangible in those times.  But continue to twist away Vladimir, I mean fishmahn.

"Jesus forgave  the sick with prexisting conditions or those whose benefits had been tapped out."

Funny!   A commercial for Obozocare mixed in there with the rest of his leftist propaganda!   Almost as pathetic as walking out doctors and nurses in the Olympic opening to promote socialism while socialist countries burn in default!

Even today we have those who misinterpret on purpose for political gain.  Not just politicians though.  I look at some churches that misinterpret for monetary gain.  They think they can get more people if they are politically correct.  People who link Christ with communism simply don't understand half of what they think they do.  This supports the old Cliche that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.  Evil men have always tried to twist scripture, and those who don't understand that will point their finger at Christians for the atrocities of the past.

Alpine-Funny how right wing fringers twist everything.  Eye of  a needle. " Something that could be easily accomplished in a slow and focused approach".  That's a good one.  Did you forget it was a rich man asking Jesus how to get into heaven who in turn replied to follow the commandments.  The rich man said he did and Jesus then said to be sure to give all his possesions to the poor. This upset the rich man to which the eye of the needle comparison was stated.  Before a camel can pass throug this small low opening, the rider must get off and also remove any baggage.  Even with this the professed passage is not easy.
As far as Jesus healing those that have prexisting conditions or exhausted funds that is somewhat different then what has been actually lived until recently, that's a factl, not a commercial.  So twist what you want but it's pretty superficial Alpine.

Today no one in their right mind would take medical advice from teachings 100 years ago, yet so many take moral and political advice from books and belief structures over 2,000 years old.

I guess that word "interpretation" has been keeping much of it alive still in the 21st century.

Nothing funnier than listening to a bed wetting leftist explain the Bible.  Even fishmahns hero Vladimer Lenin couldn't have provided more entertainment!

Jesus talked in metaphor and parables, and everyone of the day did indeed know what the eye of the needle passage way was.   There is nothing evil about being rich.  There can be evil in how you obtain your riches, and more so how you carry that elite status in your mind and actions.  To enslave an entire population to big government statism is perhaps the greatest evil of all.  The riches of power and status it provides the few elitists is without a doubt the greatest evil of all.   Except of course sticking a sharp scissors in the back of the head of a partial born baby and dragging it's brains out, now that might be the greater evil.  What Bible passage do you have for that one?

Alpine aka rand-Guess this is all about name calling right?  You're  so good at that but the same old names and phrases are getting somewhat monotnous.  Come up with some new ones and attempt to gravitate from bitterness more towards simple creativity.
One mistake you repetitiously make is casting your opinions and projections as forgone fact.  ie-your statements here and before concerning the UN Arms aggreement with no real fact to back up anything,...just a gut feelingon on your part does little substantiate your position.

" ie-your statements here and before concerning the UN Arms aggreement with no real fact to back up anything,."

It is through a grass roots effort that the UN Arms agreement, Agenda 21, and The Law os the Seas trash were all defeated before Obozo could gleefully sign them.   A vast majority of Senators told Obozo they would defeat it, and Obozo had to retreat to his happy place to save extreme out in the open embarrassment.  Obozo got kicked to the curb.  My statements were dead on, fortunately the citizens of this country are not yet apathetic enough to be railroaded by a band of socialists who hate free enterprise, hate capitalism, hate freedom and liberty, and hate this exceptional country.

" I was attempting to show the hypocrisy of the religious right.  They campaign on morality and God and yet the manner in which many profess to believe flies in stark comparison to the bible.  It appears they endorse it only in instances that benefit their cause and either omit it or attempt to twist words when it doesn't."

Now this is really special.   The only thing you have accomplished is to show the desperation and failings of liberalism.   Pretty funny, I point out how he and the left in general twist words and meanings and now he annoits himself as the portrayer of such.   Typical talking parrot for the extreme radical left.  They hate this country, they hate ambition, they hate success, they hate freedom and liberty.  They sure do love government statism and enslavement though!   According to the likes of fishmahn we should all be proud to be poverty stricken and blind sheep followers of big government!  That's their bible!   The Holy Bible they have no use for, in their elitist minds they are simply above that.

A while back when one or two people questioned if I was conservative I told them about my theory.  I had told a pastor who I know that a conservative that does not believe in God worships money.  Johnr isn't one of them, but there is a couple on these boards.  There within you will find the hypocrisy you speak of.  I hope you look into Christianity far enough to learn that it is not the catalyst for their hypocrisy, but rather their wallet.

Maybe you should pull yourself away from Ayn Rand long enough to read this in reference to your question.      "What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?" If by "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar, then the record of this party and its members demonstrate that we are not that kind of "Liberal." But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."
Okay if you read this far you're now cleared to go back to your favorite fairytale-   Oligarchy and me.   Have fun.

"What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?"

Label?  Liberal, leftist, socialist, Marxist, etc etc are descriptions.  Like dog and cat.

Why do liberals hate being called liberals?   Because it's more difficult for them to sell their lie.  They want to be considered moderate.  The dog wants to be called a cat.

" But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind,"

True, the only behind is where they keep their head.  They employ no historical perspective because to do so would erode the lie they are trying to sell.  Liberalism has failed everywhere it has been tried, the more extreme the more dramatic the leftist result.

"someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions"

This one is really funny.  This is actually how leftists view themselves, or at least for the more lucid ones how they want everyone else to see them.   They see themselves (or are smart enough to know better but want to sell it this way to others) as non-partisan, compassionate and willing to hear other views.   Again, from a very wise man...."Liberals like to see themselves as willing to give hearing to other views, but then in their utter shock and disgust discover that there are other views."

"their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -"

Enslaving the citizen, raping the tax payer, destroying free enterprise and the job makers, etc etc is exactly how to destroy health, housing, and schools.  Civil rights and liberties??  Mao, Lenin, Stalin, and the ACLU all supported this rancid ideology too.   Liberals do not support the civil liberties that our founding fathers detailed in the Constitution, Declaration, and Federalist Papers.

"someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad,"

A combination of cluelessness and leftist drivel.  This nation has nothing to apologize about in comparsion to the great good we've done around the globe for the better of all of its people.  Here we have a leftist once again setting the table to spank the USA for the "evil" it has done.  The only thing the liberals believe in on a global scale is the selling out of this nations sovereignty.
Diplomacy is nothing new, you make it sound like it is.

Nothing new here from the leftists and other assorted Marxists.  It is simply another call for their brand of statism, their brand of collectivism.

Back in the 1930's we were told we must collectivise the nation because there were so many poor.  Now we're told we must collectivise the nation because there are so many rich.  Liberals stand for the destruction of our national sovereignty, destruction of free enterprise, destruction of the individual.  The result of course is the destruction of freedom and liberty, the destruction of prosperity, and yes the destruction of the individual.  Any good leftist will say "power to the people" when the only power they speak of will go to a big governement bent on one thing.  Crushing the skull of the citizen.

lol... that's the attitude i am talking bout.  and, in my personal opinion, i think your judgment of the dynamics of this is probably clouded by your disdain for the man and his personal viewpoints.  the door definitely swings both ways on this.  i don't think anyone needs to wear kid gloves.  but, it would at least be nice if those who contiue to chastize him for his "condescending" attitude would recognize that they do the same... only its much easier to see cause its like 25 on 1... akin to a schoolyard full of kids engaging the one different kid.  i guess the analogy was lost.    happy now??

I always thought you were fairly intelligent maybe I was wrong? or your immune to sarcastic humor? LOL

I wonder if ol' Fishmahn has a favorite personal item that would work for a classic game of "keep away"?

"Diligence is the mother of good luck."

"The constitution only gives people the right to pursue hapiness.  You have to catch it yourself."

"Well done is better than well said."

"Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."
