Stump Lake Park Inset - Saturday, July 9, 2011
Fished 25 feet of water and picked up 4 walleyes 14 to 17 inches in the short period of time we had to fish. Tried to move in shallow but we didn't catch any more doing that where we were. Caught fish on a combination of minnows and Leeches using slip bobbers 1-2 feet of the bottom. We saw quite a few of the boats on the lake deep in the trees near shorelines. Not sure how that was working. |

Stump Lake (Overview) - Tuesday, June 21, 2011
Went back out sunday and fished for three hours and not a bite, then it turned on for one hour and we caught nice fish. Biggest was 23in then 1-19in, 2-17s, 3-15s, 2-14s and one 12in perch and i missed too many hits. Went through two containers of leeches in one hour. I kept the 23 incher because it was bleeding from the gills but im happy to say the fillet was white with no muscle desiese. |

The launch north of Tolna is open, but you are going to definitely want to wait until they put some rocks down where you get on. From the sounds of it they should have that done sometime this week otherwise you are trying to drive out of a mud hole.....Went out on Sunday mornings 9-2 and fished mainly eastern side of the lake as the wind was SSW trying anywhere from 5-25 feet of water...wind blown shores, bait fish all around and no walleye

Stump Lake (Overview) - Friday, June 17, 2011
The wife and i fished Stump last night for the evening bite even with the (winds out of the east the fish bite the least) theory. On the water and fishing by 6:30 and marking fish right away. First fish didnt bite until 9:00 pm and fished till 10:00 landing 14 and keeping 7 ranging from 14 to 16 inches. Still not one perch or northern, which im glad we haven't been bothered with the pike but where are the perch? Water temp was 59 degrees so that needs to rise more and the park landing still sucks, they got a bid for fixing the grade so we wont have to back our vehicle so far in the water and it came to $6,700 well worth it.!! Dont look like its going to happen though.

Stump Lake (Overview) - Tuesday, June 14, 2011
Went out Sat morning till about 5:00 and kept five eyes, the biggest was 23 inches and usually too big to keep but thats all i caught. The fillets on the 23 in eye was brown and mushy and i only seen this one other time and that was ice fishing Devils Lake. That fish was also 23 inches, and Stump and Devils are the same waters. My question is what is the deal with these eyes and has anyone ever heard of this??

Stump Lake (Overview) - Wednesday, June 8, 2011
Fished Friday and Sunday near the park using my vexliar and very little action with slow moving eyes. Ended up with four nice eyes but not one perch or pike. Mother nature needs to stay warm for more then two days and get the water temp up 10 more degrees which will do a lot for catching versus fishing. Good luck !!

Stump Lake (Overview) - Monday, May 23, 2011
Went out in the boat Friday after work. Mostly tried bobber fishing and it was real slow, one 18 1/2 male was it. Surprised at how cold the water was yet, ranged from 45 to 47.

East Central Inset - Saturday, May 7, 2011
Decided to get the boat out for the first time. Should of stopped at Golden Lake or Mc Ville Dam because the fish just were not biting where we were. Tried bobber fishing the trees on the east side in 17-22 ft. The water temps varied from 41-50 F. Could not get a bite so tried deep water trolling cranks in 35-50 ft. Then tried trolling live bait near the east non-woody shoreline in 8-17ft with no luck.
The park boat ramp was CLOSED because of new concrete that was poored, so we launched of old HW 4. CAUTION I have a smaller boat so I could make it work with the possible drop offs and shallow water. Very nice day to be out but the fish sure were not biting. |
