Went out of the main launch, headed south across the pond about 8:30 a.m.  Wind out of the east.  Started with a small northern.  The walleyes started biting around 9:30 on slip bobbers & jigs and fed on all baits.  Caught my limit by about 10:30-landed a 17" and let a bigger one get off at the boat when I went for my net.  About 15-20 ft.  Not fast & furious, but good & steady.  Never moved.

Fished last night and struggled to find 10 keeper eyes and 2 perch. Over all caught around 30+ fish, a lot of small ones. Towards the end of the day i had a very big pike on untill my line broke, more then likely the reason for slow fishing. Still had a good time.

After fishing Stump for three years we noticed the shrimp population drop off to almost nothing. Thats not a good sign, maybe its time to stock the shrimp. It wasnt that long ago they stocked devils lake with shrimp. Anyone fish Stump at night ???

Went out again tonight with calm water and slow fishing. We caught maybe 20 eyes, 12 perch and 2 really big white base. We kept nothing and had a good time. Ten mile in hour wind would have turned on the fish, maybe Sunday will be better fishing.

we fished tonight for two hours and it was very slow. we ended up with 9 eyes and 3 perch and released plenty of small ones. leeches were by far the best bait and are also hard to find this time of year. September is a good month to fish so get out there and let me know how ya do.

Back in the late 80's, I played some SB at stump but never fished it until now. I really took on some size. I had read a coulpe posts about the eyes and perch so me and a buddy decided to give it a try. Fished from about 4:30pm on Tuesday the 23rd. We stayed south on the north side of shore along the camp ground slipping and then a little cranking far east. 2 "E's" and 2 "P". Wed morn at 6am we put the boat in and did the same until that brutal NW wind run us off the water with a few eyes and perch. That afternoon we went back and started looking across to the south shore where some more trees are and slipped till dark. The wind went down and at about 6:30pm we started putting eyes and perch in the live well. I'd say we did some things out of the ordinary as far as presentation but overall most of the common things.
The lake is deep with little shore line area so it's kinda hard to troll....... I'd say move often and fish verticle and bring plenty of jigs with wire hooks if you can find them. Nightcrawlers and minnows. Keep the bait low and moving with times of complete stillness. I thought the eye's were healthy but some were slim.
Can't wait to fish other areas too.

Had a great day on Stump.  Managed a few Walleye's slippin on the South side of the park.  We then decided to focus on the 20 - 30 foot depth and pull bouncers with perch colored spinners.  Crawlers outfished leaches 2:1 and we caught about 30 Walleye's and 10 perch in about 2.5 hours.  Biggest Walleye was 22 inches  and biggest perch was just over 13".

Fished last night and did great for a perch bite, maybe caught 10 eyes and kept 4. The perch school was to big to get into the walleyes but i was just fine with that. The smalles perch was 10in, biggest was over 13in and average was close to 12in. All in all it was a great night!!

T-lund, love reading your reports!  Longtime lurker, first time poster.  A buddy and I come up to Stump a few times a summer and pump some money into the Tolna economy.  This weekend is our weekend and it would make me one happy camper if we could get on some fish.  The last two times out we've caught around 5 or so total walleye in 12+ hrs of fishing. yucky.  Kinda sucks when were driving 200 miles.  We basically have just tried vertical jigging in 12-20 feet of water, usually on the E-NE side of the lake in the trees.

My question for you sir is, how do you do it?  Mind sharing some strategy (locations, depths, presentations etc) w/ us?  Were headed out thursday morning and will be fishing for a few days, hopefully getting on some eyes and maybe some perch!  Heck, we'd even buy you a beer!

Anything helps!

Thanks
