Picked up this bad boy on Wednesday and did the trial run today.  It was only 4 inches of ice but it cut through it like butter.  The price was tough to stomach but I don't have buyers regret at all.  Happy fishing.

Hey Mike,

We had the proto unit out a couple years back,it leaked oil laying on its side for the ride out on the ice, they tell me that issue has been fixed, just curious,it also had torq issues on ice over 30's thick, again they told me that issue has been addressed.Nice quiet running unit tho eh?We were out on lake michigan and the ice was 48"s thick so she struggeled a bit once we got down to 30"s.

I used mine once so far and it is a nice, quiet unit.  My only issue is that it doesn't want to advance from the low speed to high speed jet without a little choke.  I will have to tinker a little.  I start it about once a week just to hear it pur.

its always seemed weird to me that an auger would bog down just cause of ice thickness.  other than the already chewed up ice that the auger is pushing out of the hole, the auger still cuts the same cut regardless of whether it is cutting 6 inches from the surface or 30... i can't imagine the weight of the ice being brought upthe hole by the auger is enuff to bog the auger down... but, i suppose that has to be it..  and i guees that's why i ain't no mechanical engineer either.

This is the first year they've put the Honda engine on there.  They say you can drill upside down, not sure why you would want to, but it sits in the trunk of my car and I haven't notice a bit of gas or oil on the towel underneath it, nor do I smell anything.  The ice was only a few inches thick so I'll let you know when get into 30"+ ice.  It is very quiet, however.

Snow, the crank case is fully sealed so the oil can't leak out any open valves.  It's supposed to be idiot proof now.

they dont offer it in a 9" or 10", but you can buy just the powerhead from them and if you want a 9" drill here you go:

I'm guessing they don't offer it in a 10" because it's only 35cc. I talked to strikemaster 2 years ago about putting a 9" drill on a Strike Lite powerhead and they didn't recommend it due to lack of power. I bought a 54cc Lazer Pro powerhead and put a 9" lazer drill on it, and I also have a 8 1/4" chipper drill for it.

They (Strikemaster) don't even recommend putting a 8.25" drill on the new Honda.

I have a Magnum with 8.25" and the 10.25" chipper as well.  I will play with the bits and see how it works.

I adjusted my idle screw and ran it a bit.  Now she runs like a dream I didn't have time to fish last weekend, but I cut about 20 holes just for fun.

I put my 10 1/4" chipper blade auger on the honda lite and drilled 5 holes through about 28 inches of ice.  It handled it without a problem.  This auger runs better every time I start it.  The 8" Mora that comes with it is very impressive as far as cutting speed and ease.  Happy in the face with this machine so far.
