anybody have any ideas on how to secure a ground blind (lock it up) when out in the field.  i went hunting last nite and found mine was gone, it was on posted land and whoever took it had driven right through the farmers gate also.  i want to put another blind in this spot as it is my best spot but i'm a little leary (for obvious reasons).  anybody have any ideas?

Sure that gale force wind didn't put it in some blue plater's back yard?  My blind got beat to hell by 6 angus bulls the other day....I think I can salvage it though.

To the point, I can't think of anyway to lock a ground blind down.

If god didn't want us to eat animals....he wouldn't have made them out of food.

Yeah are you sure it didn't blow to Minnesota?

I joined the military not only to fight for my country but to fight for those that can't fight for themselves. Thats why I'm here.

Dig a whole in the ground, fill it with ash and put a ring of peas around it. When a deer comes up to take a pea, sneak up and kick him in the ash hole...

Ask the landowner if you can build a permanant ground blind in the spot.  Assuming you have a good relationship with them, they might go for it.

I have pythoned locked or cabled mine up a couple times on some public land just for good measure.  Knew noone else would be in this area but just for good measure.  I wrapped the cable around the hubs on a couple different walls and then went thru the stake holes.  Would just need a cable cutters but figured if they were gonna be carrying them around nothing would have kept it in place.

I do the same as archer109...I use the cable locks for bikes and such and anchor them on a tree.  I haven't had any issues yet, but once pheasant season opens, I wouldn't leave them on public land.

I was surprised to see that my blind was still around after the high winds yesterday seeing how I didnt use the high wind tie downs... but the top hub caved in and there was about a gallon and a half of water on the roof... has this happened to anyone it is an ameristep g-30 now the top is all saggy around the hub... maybe after drying out it will tighten back up.
I would check around to see if it blew, or maybe a good samaratin saw it blowing and picked it up for you, does not hurt to check around.

i know it didn't blow away, i had it staked down with 6 or 8 heavy duty tent stakes.  all the stakes and my chair was gone also.  and where i had it set up it is really protected, it doesn't get that windy there even with the winds we had.  i'm sure it didn't blow away.

That sucks.  I went out Saturday afternoon and took one of mine down so I didn't have to worry about it getting wrecked in that wind.  Did still leave one out so we'll see how it faired.  Should be alright as it was sheltered and staked with ties on all sides too.  Sorry to hear about the blind, wish people would just leave stuff alone that isn't theirs.  I've lost a few treestands in the past on posted land.  Some just don't have respect for personal property.

"When we step into the outdoors, we have the privilege of standing in the presence of God through the power and majesty of His creation. That makes hunting more than a sport or a hobby. It's a calling to something greater. And that transforms the places that we stand into something more than a cropfield or a pasture or a mountain. It makes that place Hallowed Ground."

You could set a couple land mines around it. Your blind might end up with some holes in it but I bet anyone trying to steal it wont do it twice!
