Anybody have any tips for spearing in murky water? can see down about 3 feet with bottom being 5 feet. Have had pike come in but only see a flash when they hit the decoy or leave. Just moved house in shallower hoping that helps.

In murky water I try to keep my decoy as deep as i can and still see fish. if it is too high off the bottom i would try a lil shallower, maybe another part of the lake, or find a new lake. Ive also heard of people keeping the decoy a foot of so off the bottom, then when they see it gets hit they bring it up where they can spear. I hope this may be helpful and good luck

You can use egg shells or cut potatoes and line the bottom of your hole with them. When a fish comes it there will be contrast and you judge size and stick them. Works like a champ.

You can also use a sheet of metal painted white. Tie strings to the corners and lower it down to the bottom. You just have to be careful about letting your spear hit it and dulling the tines.

+1 or any white bean at your local grocer beans seem to stay in place a little better than potatoes or egg shells
