Have hunted in several areas of the state southwest, central and southcentral/southeast. Pheasant in all areas. Birds appear to be grouped and not spread out. Do not know if this is due to standing crop, lower numbers or just happen stance. Can walk alot and not find any then bang you are in to large groups. Have taken both young and older roosters. hens appear in good numbers. After the crops are off I think people will be surprised at the number of birds out there. Good luck to all, looking forward to winter pheasant hunts.

Sunday afternoon (10/11) walked some PLOTS south of Sakakawea. Found a few birds, able to take three roosters, all of which were young birds. Nonetheless, pleasantly surprised !! Thanks to G&F and landowners for PLOTS. . .. good stuff. Spoke with a friend who hunted north side of Sakakawea on public land. They were able to scratch out a few birds as well. Anyone else willing to share pheasant/grouse/partridge reports ?? |
