solar panels for ice house

I am thinking of adding solar panels to my ice house for battery charging/tending. My ice house is 6 1/2 x 20, and i use the battery power for circulating air- 2- 12 volt fans, occasional overhead lights, and hole lights after dark. The questions are, who runs solar panels for their ice houses? What do you like/dislike about it? Did you go big enough? And just any general hints/ideas for running solar power. Thanks in advance!

I have had people that have ran panels and this is the feedback I have recieved, go bigger than what you think you need, the little panel that is like 6"X6" they sell to tend a battery is not big enough, it may be the cold weather that doesn't allow the juice to flow ,I dont know. Second, install the panel at a very steep angle in line with wherever the sun is, you dont want to leave it flat on your roughline because of the snow build up. Will they charge under a blanket of snow, I dont know, I have been told no, I would think they would to an extent but I have been told otherwise. As  I said, secondhand info, if I still had a permant house I would give it a try. Good Luck!

Worst thing about them is the Jack Holes that think they need to break everything on icehouses and steal crap.

It's not that bad.

One of the reasons I dont have a house anymore!!! They busted down my door to get in and they took the most important thing to me in there, not my heater, not my rods, reels, or tackle but my G_D D_MN Big Mouth Billy Bass. You know the one that sings "take me to the river"!!!!! BA_TARDS!!!!

Blazer, how many watt is your solar panel? I run two deep cycle batteries as well. I wouldn't be running the TV or satellite dish on the solar panels, just my 12 volt stuff. The rest is run off the generator.
