Sounds like "yomama" is threatening the retired and our troops by stopping payments unless the situation/mess he made is fixed by august 2nd 2011,just herd the tail end of a news cast over lunch.

Not sure what the fix is but our country is headed in a tailspin fast, here in Mn just 7 days into our gov't shut down things are getting bad already, with no end in sight and our goof ball gov is on the road explaining whats going on to folks that just want their life back,no talks with 1000's of folks outof work.

Snow-It would be back to normal if the tax revenue increase on people earning more then a million dollars and or the surcharge on cigarettes were ok'd by the righties.  The fact is they will not go along with it.  And yes,  you have been listening to FOX again haven't you? Are you earning's over a million/yr. and or are you a chain smoker??

Don't more lower income folks smoke than higher income folks?  Wouldn't the surcharge effectively hit lower income smokers harder than higher income?  Sounds like a tax increase to some of the demographic that wasn't supposed to be increased by Obama.  Just making an observation.

Captain Ahab, YOur statement is probably true concerning smoking.. I guess my opinion is it's a stupid habit and results in higher medical costs for everyone. It's just not the monetary effects it also disrupts a families very existence once they're diagnosed with some type of cancer, emphysema etc. (if you care about the smoker that is) IT's just a dirty, selfish habit rich or poor.
AS far as the taxes on those earning over a million annually I don't like taxes anymore then the next person but I feel revenue increases are necessary for the state of affairs. Those earning over that amount will not suffer or change their lifestyles.

Those earning over a million $$$$ have paid accountants to keep them from paying taxes anyways ...so what's the difference ???

Dayton's budget includes provisions to close numerous tax loop holes that are now obvious paths of tax evasion and 95% of the pop. will not be paying more tax. So, in reading the budget there will be differences.

It's nice to see most of the Minnesota legislator's are still getting paid, as well as Dayton's housekeeper and personal chef.

What percentage in Federal taxes should the rich pay and when do you decide if they are rich or not?

The US can cover 56% of it's obligations right now after the interest is paid on the debt.

Granny and the Military will be paid first out of that.

Would you still make that statement if you made over a million dollars a year or smoked cigarettes?

Typical liberal, gimme, gimme, gimme entitlement thought process. Place the taxes on someone else so I can have all the government has to offer, or has had to offer since FDR started all that bullshit entitlement mentality.

The rich are already paying a higher tax rate than anyone else in the country. Anyone with 1/2 a fricking brain and the ability to comprehend simple tax structures knows that. All the liberals talk about the millionaires that aren't paying any taxes but they can't come up with names or copies of income tax returns when pushed on the subject.

As far as the smoking tax, why should those that smoke and drink (I do neither by the way) pay increased taxes to balance the state budget? What is the justification? Look at what ND did, the illustrious AG Hietkamp sues the tobacco companies using the cost of smoking related illnesses as the justification, then as soon as the money comes in the bulk of it goes for her and her brothers pet water projects. Wonderful.

Give a politician money and they'll figure a way to spend it, better to cut spending and let them make do with what they get.
