SnoBear

Anybody own or have fished out of a snobear before?  Ice fishing is comming and if this winter is anything like last winter, the old 4 wheeler just aint gonna cut it.  Any info or opinions would be helpfull.

The snobear is nice but the front has skis and not tracks.  I have seen them get buried bad in slush pockets.

my father-in-law has one and so do two other folks in my town.  I have fished in them.  Yea the ski thing up front is an issue, but they are an amazing asset to the ice fishing world.  With all the snow and access issues we have had over the past 3 years....this machine has been worth its weight in gold.  Give him a call 701-680-1021.

I'd take one, but the prices are a lil stiff.  Now if I only worked summer and had winters off completely where I could go and fish when I want and stay for as long as I want, I would definately want one, but to only use a few times a year its a waste.IMO

Ya they are expensive but seems like everyone spends that kinda money on a nice boat, why not a ice house that you can drive?  haha

Ha ha.  That is a pretty good point actually.  You can use them for about the same amount of time each year.  Don't forget to include the cost of a trailer to haul it around.

Why not find a good 4stroke snowmobile, used yamaha for $4-5k and you are capable of going anywhere while towing the ice house you already own?
Just a thought......
That's what I do

The cheaper way to go is to find a used GEO Tracker or Suzuki and put a set of beefed up ATV Mattracks on it.  GEO Tracker's can be found for around $3k-$5k and a set of mattracks will run about 5k.  So, for around $10k or under you can have a pretty nice set up.  Couple friends have these and they're awesome and go almost anywhere.

Well al I am saying is go fishing in one.  They are well worth the money.  You can start it in the morning.  Go get some coffee while it warms up.  Run out in the Snobear in your shorts and t-shirt.  Fish all day and go to any lake you want, jump from spot to spot in little to no time.... Ya a sled will is nice but you freeze your butt off all day.

Thinkin' I'd run a tracked-up mini-truck with 4wd and a 2-speed transfer case and just pull whatever icehouse there was to use.  In the summer throw a set of milder ATV tires on the mini-truck and have another play-toy.

This moment is a paradox, it's the oldest you've ever been as well as the youngest you'll ever be.

Oh I agree Capt. but how much do you have wrapped up in that thing?  Can you spend the night on the ice with it.  Does it have six holes to fish out of.... can you cook all your meals, play cards all night, never freeze your hands or your butt, have a highend lakemaster map in front of you to find your spots.....
I am just saying it is unreal how great these things are.  I agree the price tag is steep.............  how about going on a trail ride with six people..... party from bar to bar in comfort running down the trail..... how about loading 6 guys and dogs and hitting your favorite pheasant spot when all roads around are closed....  People don't have a problem dropping $30,000 to $40,000 on a boat you can use about 4 to 5 months on the highend each year.  Why not spend about the same on a Snobear and it does not matter how cold or how much bad weather you have..... you are doing fishing baby.

My dad did the same thing... Ranger, Tracks, Nice Enclosed Cab,Windshield, Heater that runs off the engine, Nice portable Ice house... so he is $20,000 into it.  So he can only basically haul two people fishing.  So I pull my snowmobile and sled with my portable so I have $6,000 in mine.  So between the two of us we have $26,000 into it and we freeze our butt off putting up houses, bad weather comes.... we stay home.  Last year we only fished a handful of days while my snobear buddy fished eveyday he wanted and with three to four people.

Less than half invested compared to a sno bear and I can put tires on it and run it all year round.  I won a mud run in the UTV class about a month ago.  If I had a rediculous pot of money, I would buy a sno bear because it would be nice.  Actually, while I am dreaming, I would like a lake place on each good ice lake with a sno bear in each garage.  Then I would fly from lake to lake in a plane with skis to land near my lake places and go fishing, sip cocktails, and come home to a half dozen PB bunnies on my suede leather sofa while watching my new DirecTV package.  Yes, that would be good.

Ok so maybe we should all go in on one and claim a weekend to use it? haha

I really think the idea of a snobear was ingenious, you can pretty much go anywhere you want at anytime, you can put the GPS and your coridinates in it and without be able to see get to where you need be, it comes with bunks in it that fold down a couple chairs, it lowers to the ice. they are slick, now I just wish I would win the dam lottery so could buy one.  does sound nice

Put tracks on the front of a snobear and they are the best.  Right now they get buried in the ugly stuff bad.

Thief River is gay, But most people hang at the Nail or the Black Cat, I like the food out at the Lantern if its still called that, across the road from the ol Kmart.  I used to be there 4 days a week when a kid because grandma liked her rum cokes.

Ok.  Let's say if you can afford a set up like that you can afford a snobear.  You are acting like you are on wealthfare and you have a 20K toy in your front yard.  What I am sayng is people invest a bunch of cash in there fishing boats all the time but when it comes to ice fishing they don't spend the money.  I see people with really nice ice homes that are $15k and they did not get to use them last year.
No I am not a salesman for Snobear but I did stay at a Holiday inn Express.............
I just think they are a great tool for ND for have fun in those long winter days.
