Smoke

I got a deal on new used car this week that I just couldn't refuse, but the former owner was a smoker and the car still has a smoke smell. I've heard vinegar or coffee grounds help to nuetralize the odor, but was wondering if anyone has tried it or has any suggestions.

Thanks!

The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. Then why do I hunt? I hunt for the same reason my well-fed cat hunts...because I must, because it is in the blood, because I am the decendent of a thousand generations of hunters. I hunt because I am a hunter.- Finn Aagard

If you have one of those ionizer things used for scent control for hunting, try that. The dealership I worked at used something similar

What I do when I get home from the bar is strip down, throw my clothes in the trash (at least 100 yards from my home), then poor a 50/50 mix of water and bleach in the tub and soak for 30 minutes, then shower with 110 degree water with soap and wire brush, then rinse thoroughly and swear to self that I will never go into that smoke house again!!!!!!!!!

Um ya, that didn't help very much.

Large doses of febreze will help, but probably not eliminate it.  You might get good info if you talk to a place who details cars.

Just start smoking and it probably won't bother you as much. Glad I could help.

Throw a few dead fish in it for the summer. That should eliminate the smoke smell.

That works very well!  Keep a bottle in the truck at all times, just in case I get pulled over when I really don't need to be getting pulled over.  Usually you get a very brief talk and a warning and have a good day.

Do you have a shampoo/steam cleaner?  If so try that.  That should take most of the odors out.

Nothing can be done. I've worked at a dealer for 12 years.  It never comes out. Sorry.

i use to work in at a dealer ship in the detail dept. and like cooter said the ionizer works well, but will still have a slight smell. some of the bad ones we would follow it up with whats called a smoke bomb. they are sold at dsi in fargo, but i bet you could get them at any parts store.
