Shore access on the Missouri

I'm out of Fargo and coming to Bismarck on the 17th. I'm wondering if there is any shore access on the river in the Bismarck area. Thanks

Yeah almost all of it on the Bismarck side and a few access spots on the mandan side. Once on the shore 100% of the shore below the ordinary high-water mark is open to everyone no matter what the person living there wants to say about it. The problem now is the river refroze with this cold snap so heskit is the only spot likely to be open for the next couple days.

You have been given some info, but a very incomplete answer. If you have never fished the Heskit before then understand that this is a shallow slope into river, most people use waders and then cast shallow cranks. It will be muddy and there may be a lot of ice floating in the area to, this was the case before the refreeze. The location is north of Mandan on 1806 and old red trail intersection about 1 1/2 miles then east about a mile, cross tracks and you will see a parking area with a staircase down to river. If you fish it will probably be slow but you never know. GL if you go. I may pass you on the way, leaving Bismarck early and heading to Fargo for knee scope surgurey at VA, dukgnfsn

Yeah it's north of mandan but the conditions are very different then they were a week ago namely the water is five feet deeper so she will be a tricky one. I personally never fish that spot due to it being normally kind of crappy and in general a pain in the ass. If it was me and I was dead set on the long rod I would just drive up to nelson the bass and crappies should be rolling pretty good right now at the mouth of the canal.

Any thoughts when it may open up south of Bismarck down to Hazelton?  Did it open there over the earlier warm period at all?  thanks

Next weekend may be possible for down there and the riffle range probably for sure if we get the temps they are forecasting. The new ice that makes up the river ice down to around little Hart is tearing itself apart pretty good today and should be pretty much gone in the next day or two after that it will just come down to how fast she chews it open. Last week it was moving at about 5 miles a day till it got cold.
