A shooting Sunday night in Alexander has left one person injured and another person in custody.

The shooting occurred at a camper in a small trailer park along U.S. Highway 85.

McKenzie County Sheriff Ron Rankin said the shooting is still under investigation, and more details would be released later.

The shooting was reported to the McKenzie County Sheriff's Office at 8:10 p.m., according to a press release issued late Sunday night.

"The names of the suspect and the victim are being withheld until a more complete investigation has been conducted," according to the release.

I am sure that living in tight quarters and working long hard days is a culture shock for quite a few of these people.   I know that I ended up getting a short fuse when I first started working out there, It took a while to adapt but I never wanted to shoot anyone.

Yep I wonder if this had been a "normal" winter if things would even be worse because of cabin fever or more "chilled" since guys would stay home more often outta the cold?

2 ways to look at the "normal" cold as hell all the time and fight snow= get rid of the rifraf most can't stand -10 for weeks.
#2 this is one of the mildest winters on record no reason to stay in a camper all day or night

jack rabbits are NOT good table fare.  cotton tails really good. Jackrabbits are way to tough not even a good stew rabbit. 8 hr in a slow cooker still can't be eaten

No doubt.....when I see all these man camps, I can't help but visualize snow drifts up to the rooftops across the whole thing.  That would really make some people snap.  These folks in campers are riding the gravy train this winter and most don't realize it.

I say to hell with that pot o' gold.

Guys lets give them the benifit of doubt.  The Semi in the picture could be hooked to a grain trailer  yea right.  The camper  maybe a home invasion someone looking for drugs  Could have been a gay marriage gone wrong   There has been no other information released  so lets not call this an oil field related incident.   It might just be a domestic dispute because someone wanted the channel changer,

I dont know if you are being serious or sarcastic.  But if you are why would it be a oilfield related incident? Because the guy works in the oilfield? I dont think what people do for an occupation reflects what they do on their personal time. Drop the oilfield crap. If the guy was a hunter would it be a hunting related incident? I dont think so, so drop the stereotyping bull shit.

Jake I usually don't stereotype but it is really getting hard not too.  Crime rates at astronomical levels compared to 5 years ago, sex offenders inhabiting western ND counties at 10 fold the rate 5 years ago, etc.

If it looks like dog crap and smells like dog crap....well you get the picture.

If god didn't want us to eat animals....he wouldn't have made them out of food.

Im just saying that he was a bad person that chose to work in the oilfield and he is not bad because he works in the oilfield. Myself and pretty much all my family and friends are in the oilfield as with alot of members on this site and we are not bad people. With this many people in the industry of coarse you are going to have you're bad ones and it seems those are the only ones anybody hears about.

In all honesty this kind of thing is to be expected.  The overwhelming majority of the people that have came here looking for work are desperate.  They were unemployed in their home states for a reason.  When the economy is like it is, the best workers remain employed for the most part.  There are of course exceptions but the larger percentage are these type of people.  A lot of them are individuals that have had run ins with the law and or have been incarcerated.  And they can no longer find employment in their home states for that reason.  These types of people are survivors and that is why they are here.  So I guess what I'm saying is we shouldn't be shocked by things like this.  We aren't in kansas anymore toto.

I said don't blame the oil field until the evidence is released.  the picture showed a semi and it wasn't clear what kind of trailer it could be a grain trailer
