Defend himself, what do you guyz think about this case?

An Oklahoma pharmacist has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for first-degree murder in the shooting death of a teenager who tried to rob the south Oklahoma City pharmacy where he worked.

So,two gunmen walked in with weapons pulled, the phamacist quickly went to work and shot one in the head, chased the second outof the store, then this is when things get dicey, but in the heat of the moment, your life was threatened, finalize the shooting,he then came back into the store and pumped 5 more rounds into the would be robber.

What do you guyz think?

I chalk one up for the pharmacist~ Too bad the 2nd one got away.

Kinda overkill, if the robber was already dead, but to me what does it matter, maybe he should have erased his tapes as long as the dude is dead in the store i don't think the 2nd guy was coming back to tell the cops.

X2 for the Pharmacist

He deserves what he got for coming back in and hitting him a couple more times IMHO, not heat of the moment anymore once he came back in.

You have to make sure your game is dead.  It would have looked worse if he pulled out his buck knife and cut his esophogus.  I think it was a bit overkill if the man was known to be unarmed.  If he was suspected to still be armed he could have played possum until the pharmacist came back to check on him and then bam.  Hard to tell.

The heat of the moment is when the adrenalin is still flowing,I'll bet this entire deal lasted only seconds~a good example here would be the old timer from texas, shot and killed two robbers coming from his neighbors house in daylight, smoked them both with a 12ga and was honored for doing so.

He went from protecting himself to murderer, just like that. I hope he wasn't an NRA Member. He clearly has issues to come back in and execute another human being like that.

Here's a link to the surveillance video. Pretty disturbing. Video is at the bottom of the article.

Gee, 'the people" got rid of a real dangerous threat to public safety when they sentenced that pharmacist. The streets are safe once again.

There oughta to be a law against NOT coming back to finish the job - to make sure the taxpayers save $$ by not providing prison for that bum who tried to rob him.

I watched the video.  If he would have shot him 5 times right away he would be a free man with a pat on the back.  I guess the moral of the story is what my dad told me growing up.  If you can't do something right the first time, don't do it at all.  I am saying this with some fecetiousness.

This is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard of.  They threatened his life and he shot a man.  obviously the man was still alive and a threat as you can see him put a little kick in his step before putting him out of misery.  This isn't murder and he shouldn't have to serve any time for this.  Caylee gets away with murder and a man who defends himself is going to get put away.  There is something majorly wrong with our justice system in this liberal Bleep bleep bleep society!

No way he would have been fine had he done that right away but going outside the store, coming back in, and from the video looks like he reloaded then walked over and executed him? really not called for pharmacist took it too far clearly not a threat anymore...

Did you see what the other man in the video did?  I couldn't see him.  If not then you are speculating.

I don't see anything to debate here.  Use of deadly force is justified only as long as there is a credible threat presented.

The first shot he fired was self-defense.  When he came back in and executed the guy, he crossed the line to murder.  The jury got it right.  I'm surprised it took them longer than 5 minutes to decide.

He probably didn't have to shoot him five more times but he also shouldn't have gotten that much of a sentence.  If I were the judge, I would have given a couple to five years.  Yeah, he had time to think about it but I'm sure he was so pumped up with emotions that it was hard to think clear.

Did you see what the other man did?  Can you tell me with 100 percent confidence that the man wasn't reaching for his gun.  Did the video surveillance tape show the man on the ground?  Maybe there is better footage or something was said by the pharmacist.  All I can see is two men pointing guns, one  gets shot and the other runs away, then the pharmacist comes back into the store and shoots the other guy again.  You can't tell by the tape if he was hit or not but i am sure there were 2 bullet holes. This is what i saw on the tape.

Did he shoot him 5 more times?  It didn't look like 5 shots to me on the tape.

The biggest question is how can you prove that the first shot didn't kill the guy? If it did he is only guilty of shooting a dead man 5 more times. Is it illegal to shoot a dead person? Maybe he went a little too far, but if he was dead from the first shot, the rest doesn't really matter.

What if he was making a move towards the gun?

Just imagine the adrenaline that was pumping through his veins when he shot the first guy and took off running after the 2nd guy.  That amount of adrenaline is very difficult to control.

Dude,
Chill out.  I would assume he had competent counsel.  If there was a simple defense, I think there would have been plenty of incentive by the jury to find a way to let him skate.  Apparently, he didn't have a very good defense.

I'm sure there will be appeals filed.  If anything you asserted above can sway this, it will get overturned.  I won't lose any sleep over it either way.
