I love bird hunting period. I even love going out and shooting doves they're super tasty and they are a good warm up for partridge and grouse season.

I joined the military not only to fight for my country but to fight for those that can't fight for themselves. Thats why I'm here.

As I was out scouting for deer last night (just cruising around) I saw lots of grouse and they would get up and fly about 40 yards and land. I was wishing the season would have been open.

I can picture Horsager's favorite meal already- a couple nice early season honkers, mixed in with a limit of sharpies, all covered in delightful cream of mushroom LOL!

Looking forward to a few sharpies here in SD.  Those "slow movers" are a good start to the season!

I am also excited. Buster's excited too. I need to get a couple more boxes of shells I think.

I'm not sure what I'm more excited about, Big Walleye or the "start" to the hunting season? Both?

Grouse and partridge hunting is great fun. I love being able to work cover with the dogs on a nice sunny afternoon without competeing with nine million inconsiderate slob pheasant hunters

Yes, I'm excited for grouse season to start too.  I thawed out the last batch of grouse I had to fry up tonight for dinner.  I also keep the heart and liver from the grouse, tastes pretty good.

Is that why you didnt show up at the bullhead shindig? You were afraid you might have to eat a grouse?
