Im looking for a game camera to help catch a theif.  Im looking for a no flash camera that can put pictures on my computer .I really dont want to spend much on one for this location, theres a good chance it will be stolen too. Is anyone using a cheap infrared flash camera that they think will work in this situation?  A date and time stamp on the pictures would be a big help too.  Thanks....

shotgun tied to a tree about knee cap high with #9 and some 20lb fishing string as trip line tied to trigger would work great i bet.

Go online and check out security cameras.  Some are dirt cheap but they do work.  Many are so small you can hide them almost anywhere without being seen.  One I saw that looked good was called a "Nannycam" for parents to hide and watch to see how thier babbysitters are doing when watching thier kids.  It transmits directly to your PC or other monitor and you can watch everything in live action.  Have to spend a bit more money to get a extended time recorder though if you are not going to be up watching the theft from your computer.    Also, if you have an underwater camera like the aqua-view, they make great surveilance tools - clear sharp picures, but you are limited to being within 60 or 100 feet of the camera or as long as the cable that comes with yours.  Again you would need a recording device if you were not watching the camera to catch your thief.  Maybe not the solution you were looking for but I have used mine for this purpose and they actually work better out of the water.

Use a standard trail camera about 8-10 feet up a tree or pole. grease the pole with fecis or fox urine or something really, really nasty.  They will panic when the picture is taken and attempt to get to the camera. They may eventually get the camera (or not) but they will also pay the price.

Even better, put out two camera's, one with flash that they will try and retreive and one that video's the act of them climbing a tree laced with crap! too funny, may even win you some serious time on u-tube.

Y'all call me a paranoid gun-nut now, but we all know who you're going to be running to for help when the zombies show up.

Actually, what are your plans and your situation? Do you plan on having a computer close by? or within 1000 ft? There are many things that people can do with something like this. Actually why don't you just send me a PM, and we can talk more.

why would you end up in prison? your property, your livelihood, defending whats yours. not trying to start anything. but thieves have no place in my book.

ok so maybe the shotgun is a little extreme, i would settle for a spring loaded baseball bat shin level.

I hoping to catch them before they find or destroy the camera.  its in a place I only make it to about once a week. A date and time stamp might let me know when i should camp out with the AR. They are taking parts off some old vehichles and farm equipment I store at a farm site i own. When the sheriff  see the pics a time stamp would probably help him too. Thanks..

If you would like to try keep better track of things, spend the money so that you are able to check all pictures from any computer with an internet connection.  Also, they have a setting so that each picture is emailed to you.  This would help if the camera is stolen.  One thing however is the distance and the megapixel of the camera.  We always are having people tresspassing on our property, but they are either too far away, or the license plate just is not visible.  But a good one if using it for security purposes.

How about a great big hole coveraged with leaves, at the bottom of the pit are long sharp judo points that impale the guy until he slowly bleeds to death!!! Or as Geoge Carlin once called for in regards to curbing the problem with over-population "death for parking vioations".
