Forgot to mention Chuck Norris or The Guy on a Buffalo waded out to his chest south of ramp and seemed to experience much success.  Unknown species/brisk wind out of NW.

Hit the 'race this morning.  One white bass on beach below rocks.  Couldn't feel our fingers after 1/2hr casting.  Paid my 5 bucks and found State Park to be Dead Sea again.  Nice lady at Scott's told us to hit the blocks.  Immediate pike action, little/some salmon evidence (8:30) lots of rising trout.  Rigged wire leaders and pressed on.  Decent number of 5lb class pike caught throughout the day. Firetiger or black/silver seemed to be preferred colors.   Boy caught 5lb salmon on firetiger jerkbait--"still fresh" male at noon.  Saw one rotten male and one fresh female cruising the bank approximately 1pm.  Female was still in agressive mode without wounds.  Observed trophy pike scatter fingerling trout twice--head like a horse, big SOB (6pm).

What did you get the salmon on? Any size to them? They used to set up the ladder way back in the bay in the state park, don't think they use it anymore. It was cool to see!
    thx

Fished Friday and Saturday along the face of the dam for sammys. Friday caught 3 and had 2 others on that got off. Saturday caught 1 and that was the only rip we had. Fish were all decent sized. 6 to 8 lbs. Longlining cranks.

Fished state park swim beach from sunrise to 1030.  Dead Sea.  Saw one pike caught from boat.  Went to east tailrace, saw one salmon jump, no further activity.  Boy caught two dandy whitebass on #11 black/chrome Rap on two consecutive casts; largest 17in/3lb.  If I had a do-over, I'd hit the race at daybreak.

Went out Sunday for about 7 or 8 hours and didn't even get a tickle.  Did hear that there was 2 caught, but with somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 or 30 boats out thats not too good.  Still a little early, but I am thinking it should be heating up in the next 2 weeks.  I know last year we got out Labor Day weekend and it was hot, but they had been going strong for 2 weeks by then.  Saw a guy catch a 2.5 or 3 lb Sauger on a Flasher and squid in 100ft, thought it was a bit odd.  Anyone know how the spillway gates being open will affect the run this year at all?
