Sakakawea Bay Map

Does anyone know where I can find a map that lists all the bays for Sakakawea?  I always thought it'd be a nice thing to have inside the tackle box.  Thanks for the help in advance?

There is no true good source.  The best available is probably my list I compiled from many different sources but even I have some that might not be "really what they are."

For the upper portion of the lake the Southwest Anglers has the best map.  There is a map made by Clayton (or someone around the time Clayton guided heavily up at Van Hook).  Then for the other stuff, using Corp of Engineer maps or old 24,000k topo maps would give you some bay names.

Navionics has some but they also are missing a ton.

The COE has a boating and recreation map book that is made up of aerial photos starting at the dam and going all the way to the confluence. The book lists the names of most of the larger bays on the lake as taken from USGS Topo Maps. It also has the GPS coordinates for all of the boat ramps on the lake both high and low water ramps. The book also has the approximate location of the COE boundary as well as showing the boundaries for the Wildlife Management Areas.

Cost of the book sent media rate is $5.00 or first class for $ 8.00. Prices  include  shipping.

The book won’t fit in your tackle box but it is well worth the money in my opinion.

Thanks for pointing me in a direction.  I have the navionics app but it is missing quite a few places.  My old man spent more time on that water than I've been around.  It's always interesting to hear him talk about the places he fished and the names they used.  I'm not sure if those are their actual names, but every time he says a place, I pull out a map and have him show me.  You would think that the state would have a map of all the bays just for recreation and tourism purposes.  Once again, thanks for the help fellas.

Is this an updated version to the old one?  Or maybe a better question is when was it last updated?  Last 10 years?

A lot of the bay names simply come from the USGS topo maps.  So curious if they put more updates into it.

Still using old school imagery but looks like shapefiles draped over it with some text call out so it is newer than the version I have used in the past!

When ordering just ask for the Lake Sakakawea Boating and Recreation Map book and send your order information along with the payment for which ever way you want the book sent.

They do have one for Oahe at the Rdale office but I do not know the cost of it with shipping but I will check tomorrow and see what they cost and I will post the cost of it as well.

I have worked on Lake Sakakawea for 32 years and have had several copies that I still hold onto as they have tons of work information that I have jotted down on them. I know it might sound like a commercial but " I never leave the office with out it"  as I find it very useful just for general information

I got it in Dakota Tackle so that is all I can offer.  Maybe Wade would know where to get one if he doesn't have any on hand.

Did you search for it online anywhere?  I haven't.

Andrus outdoors in Dickinson has them too.

There's a whole generation of Americans that have no idea about the truth of the Clintons, particularly Hillary
