Just bought a Coleman Powermate 6500 recently ($700) has a Subaru motor.Seems to be a pretty good unit, not overly loud. Very easy pull start. Even had the little lady start it , in case I wasn't around. Will double as a backup if home power failure(freezers , furnace and such) I f you got the coin, Honda would be the way to go. I just coudn't see spending that much for only a handful of times use/year.

re: Portable Generators

posted by: 2173. Have to agree Honda's are tough to beat. Quiet, light weight and surge protected for computers etc. They seem to have good fuel effciency.

re: Portable Generators

posted by: 2173. I have the Kipor 3500 TI and like the unit....The TI allows me to plug in my computor and not worry about surges.....The battery for the electric start never worked properly, but crossed referenced a new one at Interstate and has worked like a dream since. Have run my camper air conditioner, microwave and coffee pot @ the same time and it worked ok......

re: Portable Generators

posted by: eyexer.
