I am a T/C Encore man myself....The only problem I see with the Encore is the recoil. If you are not worried about the the recoil, you cant find a better gun. I got barrels for it in .22-250, 7mm-08, .280, and .338. I wouldn't have anything else. But the Encore fits me very well and I dont mind the recoil on the .338. If you want a gun with a .30 cal bullet with low recoil, I would go with a Browning BAR. I have shot them in .300 to .338 and the action takes up so much recoil rather than your shoulder.

I would find a gun in your price range that FITS YOU and spend some time at the range with a variety of ammunition to find out what your gun shoots the best. as far as calibers go...I am a huge fan of the .270 and .280.

Good luck and let us know.

How much is it for the different barrels for the encore it seems like they're a pretty accurate gun and if the barrels aren't to expensive it would be a good way to go.

The barrels are $250 each on average. If you shop around you can find bargains all over for them. I have never paid over $250 and all of mine were bought brand new. I actually bought my frame seperate. The frame come with rifle forearm, frame assy, and stock. That was $400 brand new. Then I bought the barrels seperate. I dont deer hunt with a smoke pole anymore so there was no reason for me to buy the $800 smoke pole then buy extra rifle barrels.
