But hey, go take a look at what Cleveland has done over the last 12 games. They swept Detroit. Took two from the Twins. Took one from Tampa and played the other games with them competitively and they just got done beating the Yanks. Their loss to the Yanks was a 3-2 ball game. In other words, they are playing good ball right now.

I see the Twins are 7-3 over the last 10 games. That's good. It just happens that it occurred against three of the worst four teams in the AL. Let's face it, Cleveland, Baltimore, and KC are horrible. The Twins better darn well win against these teams. These games are layups. Better not be dropping them.

And it gets better!!! The WORST team in the AL comes to Target Field this weekend.

I haven't looked for a while but, the schedule for the rest of the season seems pretty decent.

This forum is pretty funny. We complain about a player one minute then the other he's a hero.

Have watched the last few games. Twins are drilling the ball and most of our team seems to be bench players, ha ha! Valencia is really REALLY picking up his game. I like the kid. Just watched an interview with him and he seems to be pretty grounded. Thought I heard in some reading that he was kind of arrogant. Didn't get that from him in this interview just now.

Hopefully Twins can play like this in our next road trip to Tampa and Rangers.

Anyway, Buster was just on ESPN. Been reading things on Twins and rumors. Well, this is the real deal. They have an offer in for Cliff Lee. It is Slowey and Ramos. Wonder if Seattle will bite? They need a catcher in the worse way and Ramos is one of the best prospects in all of baseball. Looks like Twins are trying to go for the gusto. We'll see how it goes.

I think you are correct. That might be exactly what the Twins are built for.

I'm not really disagreeing with you. I didn't jump on you earlier this Spring about your expectations of much more offense but I raised an eyebrow knowing about outside baseball vs the dome and the knowledge that the offensive firepower in the Twins lineup isn't that much different from previous years. Yeah, Thome is new but Mauer had a career power year last year. I didn't expect him to continue at that pace in a new ballpark with a real left field fence and no baggie.

As for Nathan, I understand the whole use of the closer issue. If you think Gardy is suddenly going to manage different than he ever has, and different than every other manager, then you make it obvious that you attended UND because you are loony tunes.

The biggest problem losing Nathan is the loss of a quality arm in the bullpen. Those are hard to come by.

I believe they are 11th in all of baseball with runs scored and their team batting average is .276. Not super but not poor either. Plus, you tack on the fact we have left so many on base and that makes a big difference.

And what about our injuries? That is hurting us really bad right now. Hudson was a very valuable player. Hardy we still haven't got to see yet and now he's back on the damn DL. Kubel is coming. Young is going good. Span seems to be that guy that will be there. Mauer is slacking by Mauer standard. Our issue is third base. Maybe Valencia will be the answer but he's still young.

I don't think I doubt we are a little bit in the hurt in our bullpen but just because of Nathan? We'd have the same pitchers if we had Nathan. Exception Rauch would be somewhere in the bullpen. We just need a couple guys to be better. Mr. Crain specifically. Point being, we have the same pitchers both called up and sitting down in the minors with or without Nathan. Have to have options incase any one of them went down with injury. Nathan just went down right away (kinda good thing if it had to happen).

Just goes to how. Closer no good if the games can't be held in 6 through 8. Rauch has the 2nd most saves in the AL and in a zillion way tie for like third or second best in all of baseball. His ERA is 2.63. That cost us two wins but I ask how many wins has the bullpen (before the closer) blown? Or completely took us out of?

But yeah, frustrating with the runs. We are leaving way too many on base. Perhaps a good problem but ONLY GOOD if later in the season we keep putting them on and start timely hitting.

The two main relievers that the Twins are "monitoring" at this point, according to FOXSports, are David Aardsma (notes) of the Seattle Mariners and Chad Qualls (notes) of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Aardsma is 0-3 with a 5.21 ERA, but he's also struck out 18 in 19 innings pitched. He's making $2.75 million this year and is due to go to arbitration this winter. Qualls, meanwhile, is in the last year of his contract that pays him $4.185 million this year. He has a 7.77 ERA and is 1-3, but has struck out 23 in 22 innings pitched.
