I believe Rust's flyin service covers the mulchatna herd unless things have changed. They used to be based out of lake hood in anchorage. After visiting with several biologists up there, I decided on the Western Arctic Herd . The numbers in the mulchatna herd have gone way down over the last several years. The Western Arctic Herd is at approx. 500,000 and stable and is a healthy herd with good trophy quality from all that i have heard. Also, everything I have heard about Alaska wilderness charters has been very positive.
myself and a group of 8 buddies went with Alaska Wilderness in 07. We had an awesome hunt, filling all the tags. Brad is a top notch outfitter. I book trips for him and I sent three groups with him last year also with great success. Whats great about that hunt is he packs all the food and camp gear, so its just waiting for you when you board the bushplane. He has a list on his website of all he supplies and the weight for food and camp gear doesn't count towards your gear weight. I'll be going back next year with my nephew and 6 of his friends. I just can't get enough of Alaska! Email me outdoor@ictc.com , I got any info you need since I've been there myself. I have a few pics in FB. By the way, it doesn't cost anymore to book through me! Thanks, Steve.

BTW PP your chice of charter plane is a good one I know a guy who used them a couple of years ago. They watch the weight real close but that is what you want.
i'm actually in the process of booking an outfitter to fly us into that general area next fall for a caribou hunt as well. we decided on alaska wilderness charters and guiding. $3150/person, 1 caribou. when everything else such as travel, meals, etc., i came up with $5,500-$6,000. we are flying out of kotzebue as you probably would as well. i've done a lot of research w/ diff. outfitters and visiting w/ biologists up there so if you have any questions, let me know. there is another guy on this site who works for outdoor connection that has been on this hunt and helped me out a lot with setting up this hunt so i could get you his e-mail also. good luck to ya. i know i can't hardly wait to get up there.
