By the barring on the right birds tail I would say it has been crossed with a Reeve's pheasant somewhere along the line.

The bird on the left is a hermaphrodite which is commonly referred to as a he-she we have had several come in to Scenic for the longest tail contest.  My opinion anyway, I am having one mounted that came in about two weeks ago that was a little more radical.

Impossible to be a Golden. Goldens are ruffed pheasants and will only cross with Lady Amhearst(the only other Ruffed Pheasant).

Who cares what it is unless its a delicious sharptail?

$1199 for a 7 piece oak bedroom set? thats a steal!  We get these once in awhile, the local sportsman club got some black pheasants or melanistic or whatever they are and released them for about 3 years.   I would say its a ringneck crossed with one of those....we just refer to them as melanistic

i shot one like the one one the left many years ago, and didnt know any better, cleaned it and ate it. I look back know and i would say probably one of my biggest mistakes ever. It was quite a bit blonder then the one in the pic. but definitely a beautiful bird. ill see if i can find a pic of it and post later

I shot one last year the same thing took it to game and fish and they told me it was a hen. Her ovaries got damaged and she got the rooster colored head. nice bird they look cool and mine was really small.
