I wish I had the patients, but it's just not in the cards for me, I'd rush and not be happy with the outcome.

A good place for supplies and equipment is Janns Netcraft.  Check out their website.  There's also quite a few rod building websites that offer tips and help.

Just like anything, it takes the proper equipment and time to do it correctly.  You will need a rod dryer with motor and I would highly reccomend a high speed electronic rod wrapper as well.

Big investment in money and time to do it properly.  I thought I would save some cash and build my own rods using loomis blanks, turns out their productions rods are pretty priced pretty good when you spec out all the materials.

All you need is a jig [rod holder] , which can easily be built & a thread tensioner. I probably got 10$ invested in mine & have built at least a dozen rods. You'll probably have your guide wrapping down after your first rod. All you need can be seen @ Janns. Lots of fun & not that hard to do. Just make sure you spline your rods before starting.
