Risto Raps

I was just digging around on ebay the other day and I found that the classic risto raps are going for $10 to $30 a pop.  The #4 which is fairly rare going for the most money along with the large #9.

This prompted me to run to the garage.  Turns out I am sitting on about 60 of these cranks new in the box.  I have had good luck on the #5 trolling for eyes, but the truth is I haven't tied one of these on a line for 10 years or so.

I am torn....do I keep these for fishing pleasure someday or just put the lot on ebay and buy some fancy new depthfinder?

If i were u i would at least keep a few if i was gonna sell them IMO
If everyone focused on the important things in life the world would have a shortage of fishing poles.

I think I would likely sell about 40 of them and just keep some 5's, but as any fisherman should be, parting with tackle is tough.  However, because of  the new lakemaster integration I am in the process of transitioning from Lowrance to Humminbird so I needs some $$$

Hey Permo!  I have a stash of them too. I  won a bunch (thought junk at the time) in a PWT event up on Sakakawea in '01.  Most of mine are new but no longer have the boxes.

Almost sold the mustard colored ones one year to a guy on WC that was looking for them.   If ya haven't use 'em (like me) I wouldn't have a problem selling them for that price.  But then again they don't take up much room.  I have a plano box stuffed full of them; but it usually stays behind in the garage on my outings.

Obviously during production the Risto was a mammoth failure.  I remember now exactly where I got all of these cranks.

The old Wal Mart in South Bismarck where runnings is now.  They had some sort of boat in the middle of the aisle near the fishing department filled with risto raps for $1.99 if I remember correctly.  I think 60 was about all I could fit in they little shopping basket they give ya.   This was back in 1999-2000 I suppose.

I am going to put 10 of the #9's out there in single auctions and see what I can get.....I will report back
