Rifle, shotgun, bow......Treasures or Tools?

Just a question if folks become really attached to particular tools of the trade?  I have a 12ish yr old PSE Thunderbolt I can't seem to replace, it just works for me when I pick it up.  My 270 is the other.  It's accurate but more than that in the field I feel more confident with it over anything I own or have shot, even rifles that were more accurate on paper.  Shotguns to me are more like tools.  I certainly have my preferences but in a pinch can pretty much make due with whatever happens to be close.

How about other folks, are they "tools" or "Dearly Beloved"?

Rifles are more treasure for me.  I get real upset when I get a new ding in one.  Shotguns are more of a tool to use.  I don't notice dings and scratches on my scatterguns.  I just keep them clean and serviceable.

My 870 12 ga. and the Ruger .223 are equal to my dremel and radial arm saw; have multiple uses, reliable and a must have to own for me.

 My Browning BPS 12 ga. is like a father figure to me. He's reliable, accurate, and never fails to put food on my table.

I have become extremely attached to my XD sub and my 25-06 mtn. has clearly become my go to rifle.

Guess If I had to choose one rifle as my  "go-to", it would most likely be my Ruger 300 Win Mag that I restocked.
 The runner up would be the 7 RUM Scendero II that my father gave me.

They are all tools to me. I dont care for trailer queen motorcycles or hunting weapons that only get passed around to stroke and look at. I make my living with tools so do place a great deal of value on them. Used but not abused.

They are both for me, but I don't mind a character mark or two on them either. I've always been a shotgun guy so those are my babies, but I use the heck out of each of them. My bows would be next on the list, I know em inside and out and because I use my bow more than any gun I own I tend to become a little more attached, but I also replace bows more often than guns. I'm not much of a rifle guy, but each one has a special place in my heart, and I know they are ready and reliable for when I need it. Only a couple of those could never be replaced, the others are always for sale with the right price.
The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. Modern firearms are tools, antiques are treasures. If its not something I cant handle scratching or denting or breaking, I dont take it out hunting.

Got a 870 REM that I bought n 74 used and also have a newer 3inch Browning that I never shoot.my go-gun is the 870!

I agree ,   If it is a treasure it should be in a showcase.   All of of my tools have dents and ding, Some have been run through a table saw to make them useable for the job.   Others have been drilled and weights added or bolts run through them but there is only one that is a treasure, It is in a showcase and it doesn't even work .  My grandpas old double barrel 10 guage  Damascus open hammer shotgun that he shot a bear with just behind the barn.  
Ahhh, one of the " back behind the barn guns"!! Cool story to pass down with the gun.

I have an old Ithica 12 gauge shotgun with an adjustable choke on the end that was my 1st gun my grandpa gave to me when I was 12.  He is no longer alive but it's the only shotgun i hunt with.  If I need a plug for it still have the old #2 pencil he put in it.  Last year after 1000's of rounds the fireing pin stopped working.  Took it to a local guy and he cleaned her up and it works like a champ.  Man I love that gun.  Other than that I don't have a go to bow.  Just get a new one every year so I don't get to attached to them. i do however love my 44 Mag lever gun.  It raises hell on the blackies!

Have many firearms that I've inherited over the years from parents, relatives and close friends. I do use them all on certain occasions, but choose to hunt with only a few. My 'go-to' rifle would be my custom Model 70 .264 Win.Mag.Can't decide on shotguns. Love my Glock 27 in 40S&W for concealed carry. They're all treasures to me. 

I carry a gun cuz cops are to heavy.

confidence is EVEYTHING.... i have a savage model 12 22-250 that is so accurate it's spooky. no matter what loads i shoot through it, BUT, it's so heavy i don't carry it much anymore. i've put it for sale numerous times and when somebody calls, i tell them its already been sold. it just plain works for me and have made some unreal (field) shots with it... it may agther dust but i KNOW IT WILL COME THROGH IF I NEED IT

Im starting to have a nice collection of guns (thanks obama!) and must say I have some extremely beatuiful guns but everyone of them gets used, if they get a nick so be it.  I am not selling any of them and will be mine till Im dead and gone.

I have my 280 Ruger with a $100 scope on it that is deadly with 140 gr NAB's. And I absolutely love my Nova for hunting and clays. I like that shotgun cause you can throw it in the back of the pickup, kick dirt in it and it will never fail. Honestly, though, I love every gun I own and will own because it is a GUN!!!!  I just got into archery so my Pearson Z34 is awesome to me, but there are other bows out there I will use some day. I try to do my best not to beat them up too much, but that all goes out the window when the right opportunity presents itself.

I have a model 100 in a 308 that was manufactured a year before I was born. She don't hunt anymore, snapped a part of the slide guide assembly and can't find one. It was my go to gun, now I just look at her and smile. A few years ago I bought a mark 2 stainless in a 25-06, put a boyd cinnamon colored ross thumbhole stock on her and it is now my go to gun..... There is a special place in my heart for all of my guns.... they are alot like your own children.
