I went fishing on Rice Lake today. We got stuck 2 times trying to get out on the ice. We ended up dragging the icehouse out from shore. We fished from 11 to 3 and didn't get a bite. I marked fish every 15-30 min on the vexilar but couldn't get them to bite. We were using wax worms and minnows jigging and dead stick and had smelt on tipups and didn't get a bit. Ice was good but the snow was deep and hard.

Want to head out to Rice this Saturday. Pretty new to ice fishing, never been to Rice and was wondering if anyone can share of a good place to start, secrets, any of that. I'd appreciate it and it'ld be our little secret.

Fished Rice Lake yesterday....waste of time....Got onto the lake from the boat ramp (SW side)...definately need 4WD.....got stuck for a moment getting back off the ice....snow has been plowed to make a trail on the north end of the lake.....way better access.....fished from sunrise to 5pm and only 1 bite all day.....dropped underwater camera down several holes and never spotted a single fish

Fished Fri. and Sat. caught alot of little northerns and small walleyes. Did catch a whopper perch weighed in at 2 # 2 oz. Fished south side of lake, thanks to a local farmer and fellow fisherman plowing a path out. |

Was down there on Sunday. Access is OK on the south end of the lake, there were pickups out on the ice and several permanents. We fished the north end and access there is limited to either foot, snowmobile or ATV with chains. We used an ATV with chains and got stuck a few times. Snow is hard and deep in spots. Lots of slush after you drill due to water coming up out of the holes. Fishing was slow, a few little northerns and a few walleyes. Fished noon - 5:30.

Just curious how the access is with the recent snow fall? Thinking about making the trek down there sometime this weekend to give it a shot. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I'll post a failure/success story if I happen to make it on the lake.

Went out Friday. Ice was good 11-13 inches. People driving out. Tried spearing for pike on South side- no luck. Water clarity good! 6-8 ft could see the bottom very well. Had tip-ups out - no action. Moved to North side - 16ft - caught 2 pike jiggin - (12 in.)... 1 walleye - (7 in.) and a nice 11in. perch.

Made the treck to Rice on Saturday morning. Fished from 10am to 4:30pm. One 10in snake and one 12 in snake. Pretty discouraging. Talked to some fellas from Bis and they said this last summer was slammin for big walleyes. Maybe I was in the wrong spot.
