Anyone know the status of the lake as far as winter kill or anything? Seen a report on Minot Daily News a while back about the fish being stressed. I know the boat landing is closed cause of the flooding and them preventing boats on the water due to man made waves. Any news on when that will open back up to boats?

fished north end of rice lake today, tried 4 spots from 12 - 20 feet of water. lots of snow & tough to get around even in 4 wheel drive. ice is 24-28" thick (watch for springs along Northeast & Northwest shorelines). water was clean & clear. not a single nibble. I think the oxygen levels may be getting low making the fish innactive, but no signs to indicate winter kill yet.

Fished friday 8:30 till after dark and caught 6 small northerns and 1-14" walleye, fished sat 8 till 1, caught about 8 small northerns and 1 perch, was a whopper though 2#2oz., weighed in at southside in Mandan. Snow is pretty deep but a great fellow fisherman and local farmer plowed out so there is access on ice. Ice is about 17".

How was the ice out there Desert Storm? Do you know of any hot springs?
I know the Game and Fish netted some bigs wallyes of of the lake this summer. Have you caught any? |

Went out to rice lake last saturday only 2 other ice houses out there. Pulled in and released 2 pretty nice pike, couldn't get the 3rd out of the hole before she broke the line. Plan on getting out there again this weekend.

last time i was out there we did not get 1 bite there was 3 of us we did see 3 more guys that got 2 bites when we were still there they only got 1 of them an it was a 2 pound pike.
