considering we were only at the rush river low water crossing 30 min we made out like bandits, 2 sauger (second one might have been a saugeye) both around 13 inches, 3 cats (1 small one and 2 19 inchers), and one goldeye. first sauger came on a green jig and the rest on crawlers and slip sinkers. heavy thunder and lightning.
Cannonball River - Southwest part of state in the counties of Stark, Grant, and Morton (pike, walleye, catfish - no ramp).
hit the rush river low water crossing again and got a 10 inch walleye, 2 small cats, a drum, 2 goldeye, and a 27 1/2 inch cat that we let go, not bad. used crawlers on slip sinker rigs.
took my mom to the rush river low water crossing and using crawlers on slip sinker rigs we got a 19 and 23 inch cat (let both go), 4 goldeye, a big drum, and one stupid walleye (caught that 10 incher 3 times)
this is for the maple and rush rivers (no other to post reports for them). the maple river dam is still underwater but using crawlers and a few angle worms I got a dozen cats (no keepers, biggest was 12 inches), 3 goldeye, 4 stonies, and a 11 inch waleye. the rush river low water crossing had an insulting number of goldeye, 4 in the first 15 minutes, 3 more over the next 30 (they had a tendency to hit the bait before the the weights hit the bottom, and 6 cats, no keepers. the thunder from nearby storms gave off a nice ambiance.
ok this is actually for the rush river (that wasn't an option for river and stream systems). the low water crossing was good to me last night, on frogs I got 6 cats, kept 4 at 19, 2 20's, and a 24 incher, and a goldeye.
Anyone been fishing the river in Minot lately?! Any luck?
Fished Eckroth only managed 1 keeper.
had some good luck today. got a late start, but truned out great. 3 wallys all around 19 to 21in 2 suagers around 3lbs. very aggresive, hit like ling. stomachs were empty. try to get the early bit in the morning. Jigged in 1 wally and suager on a rainbow lindy darter, with just a head of a chub. others on tip ups, with 18in snell with felps floater with stinger. green, and orange/chart seemed to be the best. fished in 14 to 28ft
Reports of 10# plus northerns are getting caought north of westhope on the river... gonna head up tommorrow to check it out got to be some eyes in there!
Fished the mouse east of westhope today and drilled a hundread hole all over the place. never read a fish or had a bite. the minnows would die soon after they were in the whole. no good up north!!
