Red River (North) - Wednesday, June 15, 2011
Report Details
I remember reading a while back that these kittys love frogs. Are they good bait? I ask because my yard is full of them. They are all around an inch or so long (body wise). I live 5 miles north of Larimore and these little things are all over the place. When I mow my yard they scatter all over the place. It would be easy to catch a pail of these little buggars. Are these things frogs, or toads, or ?

Re:If they're everywhere, they are frogs. That size frogs are good for walleye. The bigger size Leopard Frogs are dynamite for big catfish. I personally don't keep frogs for bait unless they're big, as big as you can get/find.
When the weather turns to rain like this, you can bet 9 times out of 10 that it'll turn into an "amphibian bite" which means if you have mud puppies/salamanders, frogs, etc, you can typically get more and better action if you're having problems catching bigger size catfish. Captain Josh Burgett |
